BROTHERS AND SISTEÍIS OF
THE THJRB DISTRICT
Some oí; our members are unďer the
impres, slon Lhot directors of the Su-
přeme Lodge SPJST are having an easy
go job. ln response, the dlrectors háve
many responsibilities, and must háve
qualifications and knowledge, especial-
ly in appraising reál estate.
According to our By-Laws, one of- the
most importan.tr duties pf directors are
to invest all the surplus of the mortuary
fund in reál estate loans. If the di-
rector does not háve the knowledge and
experience in appraising reál estate, the
Order is in serious danger of losing a
lot of itioney.
In our last meeting of the Third Dis-
triet held on March 27, 1960, at West, I
submitted a eondensed statement of
loans, January Ist, 1956 to December 31,
1959, which shows that during the 4
years, we‘ made $2,533,473.31 loans. We
acquired only one piece of property by
foreclosure in" the Third District, which
was sold at a, nominal gam. We had
several delinquents, but gradually all
of these loans were brougbt to eurrent
condition.
I wish to statě that during my reál
estate business for the past 38 years, I
háve made many appraisals for in-
dividuals, estates, corporations, and for
both Hill and McLennan Counties, in
condemnation cases.
Last weck (May 20-thL I was appointed
by Judge Vic Halí, County Court at Láw
Wa,co, to serve as commissioner to assess
the value of trips of land, being taken
for road purposes.
Dc ring the past years, I háve attended
several of the Education Seminars of
the Bačo Reál Estate Board, which dealt
inostly with appraisals, and by attend-
ing such meetings, I háve acquired
knowledge as to appraising various ty pes
of properties.
1 háve tried my level best to perform
the duties of Director and acted upon
all matters promptly. Many thanke to
'each of you ášsisting me, and also to the
loca.l co-appraisers.
The convention is at hand and we
will face many ímportant and difficult
problems, elect officers and directors
for the next four years. I certainly will
appreciate your support to re-eleet me
lor another term.
In conclušion, it is my wish that our

Sisters and Brothers,
My friends háve asked me to be a
eandidate for-Director of District Three.
After giving this matter careful con-
sicLration, I ha v o decided to seek this
Office.
Many of you brothers and- sisters knew
my father and mot her, Mike and Agn.es
Mazanec, who were charter members of
Slovanská Lípa 66, organized in Waco in
1906. I háve be„n a member of this lod-
ge for ověř. 40 years and in the past
nlhycd ■ a big part in the covneback of
Lodge 66 and the building of Linden
Halí. For the past three years, I was
president of Lodge 66 and presently I
am one of the trustees of Linden Halí
and first vice president of District III.
I was boru and reared in Waco and
edueated in the Waco Public Schools. I
gráduated from Tyler Commercial Col-
lege and the SMU Institute of Insur-
ance Marketing.
I served as director of the McLennan
County Farm Bureau, director of the
Federal lund Bank Association and
president of a loeal farm bureau. I am
now an appraiser for the: Farmers Mu-
tual Protective Association of Texas,
RVOS.
As director of the Federal Land Bank,
I gained valuable experience in land
appraising and making loans, etc. which
I feel will be beneficial to me in per-
forming the duties of -SPJST Director.
I am in a pc-ition to give my un-
dividcd attention and time and feel that
I am fully qualified to fulfill the duties
of this Office.
I am asking the members and dele-
gates of ev:ry lodge in District Three for
their consideration and support.
Sincerely and fraternally,

OUR BROTHER CYRIL POKLADNÍK
Dallas, Texas
This is not an autobiograph because
our Brother Sid is much too modest to
ever write one. But because wé admíre
ouir Pres!iď:nt's chamdng personality
and because we appreciate his fráfer-
nal work not only for our lodge Pokrok
Dallas No. 84, but for the wholé Order
as well, we — the members — decided
to write his biography to let our SPJST
membership know him even better then
they know him. now.
As an infant one year old, Brother
Pokladník came to t«he land of better
opportunities with his mother and qld-

order to join his father, Cyril Frank
