LODGE NO. 9, SNOOK
Dear Readers,
Lodge No. 9’s monthly meeting
was called to order by President
Walter Vajdak at 1:30 p.m. Feb-
ruary 2nd. The pledge of alleg-
iance was recited by all who were
present, and a moment of silence
was held for our departed brother,
Brother Bili Schoenemann.
The minutes were read and ap-
proved as read. Youth Leader Bet-
ty Schoenemann gave the youth
club report. On, March 8th a Dis-
tríct I Workshop was to be held
at New Tábor. The youth club
meeting was held on March 15th.
Then on March 23rd the District I
spring meeting was held at New
Tábor.
Under old business the roofing
of the lodge building was dis-
cussed. It was decided to go ahead
with the roofing. The cleaning of
the building floor was discussed
under new business. It was de-
cided to háve a work day to do
this. The work day will be set in
the April meeting.
Corning activities will be: a 4-H
Exchange benefit dance with the
Music Masters of Bryan on March
29th, youth club meeting will be
held on Apríl 5th, at 2 p.m., and
the lodge meeting on April 6th, at
1:30 p.m.
The dooř prize was won by Sister

LODGE NO. 171, ACADEMY
Dear Members and Friends:
I would like to thank all. mem-
bers of the Supreme Lodge who
háve helped us with our new lodge
in any way to get off to a good
start. It has not been a year since
we began the building that is now
complete. Seems as if time just
flies by so quickly nowadays.
Speciál thanks go to Brother
Lad Zatopek for having the Dis-
trict II sales representatives’ cere-
moniál dinner at our lodge. Hope
everyone enjoyed themselves. I
sure did, even if I was about poop-
ed out from going so much before
the day of the big event.
We were also glad to háve had
our District II YC Frank Klinkov-
sky here at the youth club meet-
ing on March llth. It is beginning
to look as if our youth room will
be too smáli for our youth, soon,
because we are growing in inember-
ship every month.
I want to thank all the new
members who háve joined our
lodge. Come to see us at every
meeting. We want as many as pos-
sible to be involved in all of our
sociál activities; we need you!
Our next meeting will be cm
Tuesday, Apríl 8th. The youth
club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Then
about 7 p.m., we will all háve a
big get-together with a covered
dish supper (before our regular
adult meeting) tea and coffee will
be furnished by the lodge.
I am hoping for and looking for-
ward to a great day on Sunday,
April 20th for the District II spring
meeting. l am inviting everyone to
attend and bring a guest with you.
As always, the more good people
we háve, the íbetter and greaier
the result-s, which will benefit all
our youth cluhs and our Society.
To those who harve not been
here since our dedioation on De-
cember 15th, 1974, we now háve
plenty of good solid parking area
and by district meeting time we
will probably háve all of our park-
ing area — 4 acres — graveled.
Věry few people know what goes
on at our lodge during the week.
We háve completed several things
since our dedication day, which
were not finished then. I’U telí you
that on that day, I for one, was
pretty well tired out. But later on
we completed our dresslng rooms,
for your convenience; the heating
systém has been doubled, and just
lately we háve added another nice
little office inside our big Office,
which is a very good plače for our
lodge to write up new members on
nights before our dances start. We
háve finished (on March 22) new
ventilating outlets so we can get
rid of the excess smoke that we
had a problém with.
We are looking forward to our
first big Wilson Art private dance
and party on April 5th. Expecting
from 1,000 to 1,200 people. We hope
everyone enjoyed our facilities very
much.
I am very appreciative of the
people (and parents) who háve
been so nice to us all, especially
from the Temple area.
The- Gross Country band parents
who played at our lodge for the
first time last Saturday, March 16,
drew a large crowd and provided
some fine music. This is a young
group and we thank them again.
Be listening to rádio stations
KTEM Temple, KTCN Belton, then
on Sundays to polka time, on
KAWA Waco, to leam of our week-
ly dances.
There will be another great band
from Sioux City, Iowa, the Eddie
Skeet Band, on tour through Tex-
as, will be here on Thursday, June
19th. Be here from 8 to 12 p.m.
and enjoy this band.
It is hard for me to háve any
time off on Sundays because my
time is taken up with my speciál
business — the Temple Academy
Dragway — which opens the season
on April 22, weather permitting.
All of you who attend the Dis-
trict II spring meeting probably
will hear plenty of noise coming
from the race track, which is about
one-half mile across the river from
Lodge 177.
Last, but not least, the doors
are open with no charge to any
SPJST youth club group that comes
to Temple Academy Dragway ac-
companied by their youth leader
as chaperone. Contact me fotr
some future dáte, so I can give you
some details to see some of the
bigger speciál events.
I had better close for now. Ccane
and see us at Lodge 177.
Fraternally,
Jerry L. Tomastik,
President
