Pensacola Beach, Florida, where they

ed and our own youth from Lodge No.
9 walked away with many honors.

classifications. Thanks and apprecia-
tion are hcreby extended to all those
who worked so hard to make the day
a success and congratulations go to our
youth.
On August 27th, the Snook Volím-
teer Fire Department will hold a fund-
.raising- barbecue art our halí and ev-
eryone in the community is urged to
support this very worthwhile cause.

TEMPLE JUNIOR COLLEGE
EXPANDS CZECH PROGRAM
Temple Junior Ocllege will offer an
expanded program of instruction in the
Czech language in the coming fall se-
mester. There will be two evening'
schod classes and one re gul a.r day
schod class. Only one Czech course
was taught at TJC during the last
spring sernester.
Czech 123, Intermediate Czech, will
be taught on Monday evening from 7
to 10' p.m. This second-level course is
for those who háve had a previous
course oř other background in the
Czech language.
Czech 113, BeginneNs Czech, will be
taught on Thursday evenlngs from 7
to 10 p.m. This course is for persons
with no prior knowledge or experience
in the language,
Czech 113, Baginneťs Czech, also will
be offered in the regular day schod
on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the
fourth period (12:: 15 to 1:30 p.m.) This
is the first time in the history of Tem-
ple Junior College that Czech has been
taught in the regular day schod pro-
gram.
Each of the courses carries three se-
rnester hours credit. However, the stu-
dent may earn 4 sernester hours credit
if he regisíers for Czech 114 or Czech
124. These courses meet for an addi-
tional two hours of languages labora-

Mrs. James Cavanaugh of Granger
Will teach the day classes and J. L.

studicd Czech at the University of Tex-
as in Austin. Mr. Chervenka has been
teaching the Czoch language at Rog-
ers High. Schod for the last 15 years
and taught at TJC last spring.
This incveased interest in the Czech,
courses at TJC reflects a statewide
trend in which universities and col-
leges, elementary and high schools,
and private schools all are reporting
increasing student interest and enroll-

ments in Czech language programs.
Pre-registration for day classes at
Temple Junior College is in progress
and will continue through August 29.
Classes will begin on September 5.

There will be a short monthly meet-

a decřease in monthly attendance and

enough present to hold a. meeting, so

meetings because they are not very
