Dear Editor,
Out of approximately
14,726 persons of voting
age, over 6,500 voted in
DeWitt County elections, a
percentage that is probably
consistent across the united
states. Participating in the
election process is not only
a constitutional right by
which we promote individ-
ual beliefs, but it is also
our duty as partakers of the
benefits of living in this
country. My respect goes
out to all who exercised
their right, regardless of
their choices.
As for the DeWitt
County Sheriff’s race,
while I do not share the
same Sheriff’s Office phi-
losophy as Sheriff
Zavesky; I congratulate
him in his campaign victo-
ry. The majority of those
who voted clearly voiced
their approval of his past
performance and that is
what free choice is all
about.
As for Sheriff Zavesky’s
opponent, Kevin Kroos, I
continue to be impressed
by his integrity which was
demonstrated throughout
his campaign and right up
through election night. As
the final votes came in, I
asked if he was going to
give Sheriff Zavesky a con-
gratulatory call. He
replied, “no, I will go over
and congratulate Sheriff
Zavesky in person.” And
he did.
