Jack Boyd
Services for Jack Gar-
ner Boyd, 75, were held
Dec. 30, 2012, in the
Anderson-Clayton Bro.
Chapel with Jepp Brewer
officiating. Interment fol-
lowed in Pyle Prairie Cem-
etery.
Boyd was bom Dec. 12,
1938, to Janie Faye and
A.Z. Boyd and died Dec.
27, 2012, in Kemp, with
his family by his side.
He was a 1958 gradu-
ate of Franklin High
School and a member of
the Seagoville Baptist
Church for many years.
He was never short for
words or misunderstood.
He was considered as
tough as leather but as soft
as a Teddy bear.
He enjoyed gardening
and gave whatever he
grew to his family and
friends.
He was a general con-
tractor by trade and con-
sidered the hardest work-
ing man by many. When he
was not working or tend-
ing to his garden, he en-
joyed cooking, hunting
and bird watching. But his
greatest pleasure was be-
ing with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and
brother J.M. Boyd.
Survivors include his
wife of over 50 years,
Mildred “Millie” Boyd;
sons Ken Boyd, Mike

He was born July 29,
1927, in Denman, to Prudy
and James Mince and died

He was preceded in
death by his parents and
wife, LaFern. They were
married for 61 years.
Survivors include his
son Michael Mince;
daughter LeAnne Brazeal;
two grandsons, one grand-
daughter; one great-grand-
daughter; brother Jack
Mince; sister Betty Daniel;
numerous nephews,
nieces, and cousins; loving
in-laws; and a host of dear
friends including the
caregivers of Emeritus at
Collin Oaks.
J.W. Mathis
A celebration of life me-
morial for J.W. “Uncle
Dub” Mathis, 69, will be
held from noon to 5 p.m.
Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013,
at Harvey’s RV Park Cen-
ter, in Kemp.
Mathis was born Dec.
20, 1944, in Maud, and
died Dec. 28, 2012, in
Terrell.
He lived the majority of
his life in Kemp.
He worked much of his
life as a peace officer serv-
ing in Kemp and Kaufman
County before retiring
from Van Zandt County
after more than 20 years

in Dallas, with military hon-

wife, Jewel will be laid to
rest at the services.
Myers was born Aug.
31, 1949, in Aley, to
Frances (Sheppard) and
George Ralph Myers and
died Dec. 21, 2012, in
Athens.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and
wife four months earlier.

Belinda
Ferrell
A celebration of life for
Belinda Kay Ferrell, was
held Jan. 4, 2013, at the
Roselawn Funeral Home
Chapel in Seagoville, with
Mark Ferrell officiating.
She was born June 2,
1959, in Abilene, to Jo Ann
(Sanders) and Marvin D.
Kirkpatrick and died Dec.
29,2012, in Kaufman.
She was affectionately
known to her friends and
family as “Noni” and “B-
Sol.”
She was a sweet, gentle,
beautiful spirit, full of light
and unconditional love for
everyone she met. She
will be missed by all those
she touched.
She enjoyed spending
time in Colorado, and with
her loving family and
countless friends.
She is preceded in death
by her loving son, Joseph
S. Ferrell, father and
brother Darrell Lynn
Kilpatrick.
Survivors include her
son, Pius Ferrell and wife

Services for Alan
Whatley, 85, of Athens,
were held Jan. 4,2013, at
Carroll-Lehr Funeral
Chapel with Dr. Joe War-
ren officiating.
Burial followed in
Oaklawn Memorial Park.
Whatley was bom Aug.
20,1927, in Pauls Valley,
Okla. to Della Jones and
Tom Whatley and died
Dec. 31,2012.
He joined the Merchant
Marines at 16, and later
served in the U. S. Army in
World War II before be-
ing honorably-discharged
as a Sergeant in 1952.
During his early business
career, he worked for
General Electric and the
U.S. Government
throughout Canada and
North America, until re-
turning to Texas to start
several businesses with his
brothers.
He married Thelma
Johnson in 1958, and was
a loving husband, and
Godly example to his six
children and seven grand-
children. Since 1966, he’s
resided in Athens.
As one of the original
real estate developers in
the area surrounding Ce-
dar Creek Lake, he devel-
oped several major prop-
erties, including what is
now the City of Enchanted
Oaks and the Pinnacle
Club.
He was active in the title
and abstract business in
Henderson County for
many years, and founded
Lakeshore Utility Com-
pany, in which he was ac-
tively-involved until his
death.
He will be remembered
as a steadfast advocate,
tmsted advisor and gener-
ous supporter of family and
friends, alike. Above all, he
loved the Lord, and dem-
onstrated his strong Chris-
tian faith.
He was preceded in
death by his wife, broth-
ers Jim, Otis and Arlie
Whatley and sister Nettie
Dowdy.
His family would like to
thank his many doctors
and the staff of Trinity
Mother Frances, and the
Louis and Peaches Owen
Heart Hospital for their
loving care.
Survivors include his
sons, Mark Alan Whatley
and wife Sherri, of Tyler,
James Paul Whatley and
wife Leslie, of Loomis,
Calif., Thomas Joe
Whatl ey and wife Mel anie,
Timothy Leo Whatley, all
of Athens; daughters
