Production is through perfora-
tions at 9,507-30 feet and 9.535-85
feet, opposite the Fusselman. The
venture found the Ellenburger bar-
ren In drilling to 9,799 feet. Plug-
ged-back depth is 9,615 feet.
In West-Central Reagan County,
one and one-half miles southeast
of the Benedum pool, Plymouth OH
Company was drillstem testing its
No. 1-50 Elliott, outpost to the same
company's Bend - Pennsylvanian
discovery.
This prospector, 660 feet from
north and west lines of section 50,
block Y. TCRR survey, was bottom-
ed on 10,255 feet In lime and shale
The test was underway on last re-
port and no results were available.
Plymouth No. 1-2 Dixon, Wolf-
camp-Permlan prospect in the
same vicinity, was still waiting on

duction tests then are to be made
on the Wolfeamp through perfora-
tions at 7.430-9,390 feet.

In Literary Events

W W Strain, manager of the
ranch who was In Balmorhea Sat-
urday to see the results of the test
just ending. About 500 ranchmen
from over the state were also pres-
ent.
Six young bulls of the Strain
herd, from the same sire, begin-
ning the test at 486 pounds and
finishing at 795. placed third with
an average dally gain of 241
pounds, Just .09 less than the first
place winning group of Herefords
owned by Jack Williams of PalnH
Rock, and .02 less than the second
place winners. Two other groups of
Strain Bros, bulls placed 6th and
8th respectively A group of nine
heifers placed second in the heifer
class with an average of 181
pounds per day.
Following the close of the test,
Mr Strain sold two of his bulls, one
to N W Hickman, Reagan County
ranchman, and the other to Tom-
my Hayes of Big Lake who will
place the animal on his ranch near
Comstock.
The Strain brothers, W W. of
■his city and Hunter of San Angelo,
began ranching in this county
about a year ago, having moved
their cattle from Balmorhea They
have 28 sections which Includes
what old-timers call the "20-foot
place".
People In this section of Texas
are not too familiar with the Santa
Oertrudls cattle, which the Strains
run exclusively and of which their
starting herd was purchased from
the King ranch, famous for Its
Santa Gertrudls cattle, a breed
which Is 3/8 Brahma and 5/8 Dur-
ham.
