Lodge 40 Honors
50-Year Members
Seven 50 - year pin recipients were
honored Sundav, Julv 13. 1986 at the
El Campo - Hillje SPJST Halí, Hillje,
Texas. Fried chicken, furnished by the
lodge, and many good covered dishes,
brought by the members, were servea
to 125 members and guests.
The youth club and the youth
leaders presented a style show and did
the popcorn dance. A film on the
Texas Czech Heritage was shown.
A plaque of appreciation was
presented to youth club member
Michael Marek for his dedication to
the youth club on the local, district and
statě levels. Michael graduated from El
Campo High School in May and will
be leaving to further his education. We
wish him all the luck and hope he will
one day come back and work for
Lodge 40. Michael is a very
outstanding young man.
Brother Matt Vaněk presented the
50 - year pins to Charlie Stehno,
Matilda Stropek, Lorraine Cry and
Joe I. Kopecký, Ir. Those who were
unabíe to attend were Brother Edward
F. Rod and Brother Frank Kresta, Jr.

Lodge 66
Holds Meeting
[LINDEN HALL]
On Sunday, July 20th at 1:30 p.m.,
a speciál meeting was held to discuss
changes in our lodge’s rules and
regulations book.
President Ray Orsag called the
meeting to order and then turned it
over to Vice President George Pauling,
who is a member of the Rules &
Regulations Committee. All
committee members were present
except Brother Tim Urbánek.
Some of the rules covered were:
Section I Article 6 -- concerning the
registration of members who attend
meetings.
On Page 4, Article 2, there was
discussion on the number of board
members. At a future meeting the
following proposal will be voted on:
That the president and vice president
are automatically on the board and
that 9 more members are elected to
serve on the board.
Other articles discussed were:
Articles 3, 6 and 9 of Section I. There
was an addition to Section II, it will
now háve Articles 10 and 11.
In Section III, Articles 4 and 6 háve
some changes and Article 7 was deleted
because it was moved to Section II. A
new Article 7 was read along with
Articles 8 and 9.
The speciál meeting adjourned for a
5 - minuté break before our regular
business meeting began.
Regular Meeting
Our regular meeting was called to
order at 2:45 p.m. with the flags
presented by Bili Warren and Larry
Yates. Michael Warren led everyone in
the pledge and lodge motto.
All officers were present except for
our Secretary - Treasurer Darlene
Engelke. The minutes of the previous
meeting were read and approved.
Sister Pruití read a letter from Lou
Scott, who is in public relations of
Westfest. A tabloid describing
Westfest was sent and asked everyone
to come and enjoy the fun.
President Orsag thanked Sister
Jeanette Smith for donating a filing
cabinet to the lodge. It will be a very
welcomed gift.
Minutes of the board meeting held
July 9th were read by Sister Langlotz.
Youth Leader Gladys Yates gave her
report. There were 20 youth present,
one new member, one visitor and five
adults present. Those attending camp
this year were to be at Camp Val Verde
by 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 21sí.
Sister Yates asked all those who
attended YAD and won to step
forward and be recognized.
One of our youth, Chris Owen, -won
high honors at a Boy Scout camp. The
youth will all be going to Six Flags on
September 14th. Everyone is to meet at
the West Auction Barn at 8 a.m. that
morning and leave from there.
Sister Libbie Parma then reported
on the Trust Fund. She also presented
the following point systém winners
with the same amount of money they
received at YAD Juniors: lst - Larry
Yates; 2nd - Kathy Warren, 3rd -
Shane Pruitt, 4th - Michael Warren
and 5th - Chris Owen. Winners in the
Teen division were: lst - Donna
Stanislav, 2nd - Bili Warren, 3rd -
James Yates and 4th - Michelle
Shelton.
James Yates, who graduated from
Robinson High School in May, was
presented with a graduation gift from
the Trust Fund. Brother Yates was a
youth club member for 9 years and an
SPJST member for 14 years. He is
planning on taking a diesel mechanics
course. Everyone congratulated him
and wished him well. Brother Yates
thanked everyone for their help and
encouragement.
Our Entertainment Committee
chairman reported that members were
asked to bring sandwiches to the
August meeting. The lodge would
ťurnish chips and the Entertainment
Committee would ťurnish the dessert.
In September barbecue chicken would
be served in honor of the lodge’s
anniversary.
Sister Smith reported that the
Fraternal Committee received three
thank you notes. They were from
Mary Nell Barak, William Warren,
and the Veterans Adminstration. This
month it was suggested that Brothers
Henry West and Frank Miller each
receive $100. Everyone agreed to this
proposal.
Sister Leona Nors, Cheer
Committee, reported sending get well
cards to William Warren, Dillon
Locke, Mary Nell Barak and Frank
Miller. She received a thank you from
William Warren and family.
Our lodge lost two of its members,
Katherine Holder and Lewis Croll.
Resolutions of Sympathy will be read
at next month’s meeting.
Under unfinished business, Sister
Mary Alice Langlotz thanked everyone
who has helped her in any way with
bingo. Sister Yates came forward and
asked if Richard Pruitt could be her
second assistant in the youth club. It
was agreed that she háve another
assistant.
Brother Pauling requested that
anyone who would like to enter the
Domino and “42” tournament should
please register because time is
dwindling away.
He also read some minor changes on
the Rules and regulations that had
been discussed at previous meetings.
Everyone voted unanimously to make
the changes.
Under new business, another speciál
meeting has been called for our August
meeting. Everyone remember to be
there at 1:30 p.m. on August 17th.
Our dooř prize winner was Richard
Pruitt.
