readying for fifth
annual barbecue
cookoff and games
SPJST District Six hosts its Fifth
Annual Barbecue Cookoff on Friday
and Saturday, September 12 and 13,
2003. Organizers invite all interested
cookers and funseekers to mark these
days on their calendar and join them
at SPJST Lodge 40, El Campo-Hillje.
Friday and Saturday. The lodge is
easily accessible from Highway 59.
Cookoff activities get underway on
Friday evening with DJ music from 8
District One

Restaurant July 25 June meeitng
SPJST Lodge 1, Fayetteville will
háve a quarterly meeting/luncheon at
Keilers Restaurant in Fayetteville on
Friday, July 25, 2003 at 11:30 a.m.
Minnie Mae Špaček Kuběna will be
96 years of age on July 20 and a spe-
ciál presentation/ceremony is planned
for the honoree at this meeting. Mrs.
Kuběna has been a member of SPJST
since October 20, 1938 accumulating
65 years at Lodge 1 at Fayetteville.
SPJST Lodge 1 members planning
to attend this meeting need to call

Dear Members,
Our lodge met on Sunday, June 8,
2003 at the Legion halí Tap Room at 2
p.m. with Raymond and Mary Ann
Sustaita as greeters.
President Joe Siptak opened the
meeting followed by the Pledge of
Allegiance. Resolutions of sympathy
were read for our departed members
Ema Lee Galetka and Viola Melnar by
Vičky Zak of the Resolution
Committee.
Welcomed were guests Glenn and
Jeanette Kaminsky from Lodge 28,
East Bernard. Mr. Kaminsky is
President of the SPJST Library,
Archives and Museum Board of
Lodge 4, Hallettsville Gives to LAM
Lodge 4, Hallettsville Treasurer Helen Zabranský and President Joe
Siptak, right, present $150 check to SPJST Library, Archives and
Museum (LAM) President Glenn Kaminsky, following his presenta-
tion on the SPJST LAM’s building project.
