Seaton To Host
District II Meeting
Dear District II Members:
I hope everyone is planning on
coming out to our fall meeting on
Sunday, September 24, 1989 at Lodge
No. 47 in Seaton. By now each lodge
should háve received my letter and
pas sed it on to the members.
The activities will be much the same
as last year, the country store, drawing
for prizes, the quilt, kolache, and
horseshoe pitching contests. I hope
many of you are planning on entering
this year.
Remember registration is at 1:00
p.m., following by a short meeting at
2:00p.m.; all contests and games after
the meeting, with supper ať
approximately 5:00 p.m.
Please remember to bring canned
goods, cake for cake walk, salad and
dessert for the evening meal.
We are asking to try and attend, we
are hoping for this to be the biggest fall
meeting ever. See you on the 24th.

Meeting
Dear Members of District III:
We hope each of you will make
plans to attend the fall meeting hosted
by Lodge No. 135 in Ennis, Texas on
September 24, 1989.
The district meeting is so important
to our fraternal life and wonderful
opportunity to be with brothers and
sisters from other lodges for fun and
socials, also a chance to exchange ideas
and helpful suggestions for your local
lodges.
Our lodges are falling short on their
attendance and I must stress to all
members how important it is to
represent your lodge and concerns on
the district level.
Dooř prizes will be given.

District IV Fun Day
Members are advised of the District
IV Fun Day which will be held
Saturday, September 23, 1989 from
1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Fire Halí
in Wall, Texas with Lodge No. 160,
San Angelo hosting this event.
Activities will consist of sociál
games, Taroky and domino games as
well as horseshoe pitching
entertainment.
In addition to the activities, there
will also be a non - professional
kolache and quilting contests for
members in District IV, which will be
judged for prizes.
A delicious meal, as usual, will
foliow the games.
Lodge 160 extends an invitation to
all the members to attend the fun day
and leťs make this a very successful
entertaining occasion.

Meeting
Dear Members of District V:
Our plans háve been completed for
an outstanding District V Family Day
Fall meeting hosted by Lodge 88 in
Houston on September 17, 1989 and
we, again, cordially invite you and
your friends to attend this fun - filled
day.
The District is furnishing the meat,
so bring your favorite dish and enjoy
the delicious meal with free drinks, to
be served between 12 and 1 p.m.
(There will also be free drinks after the
meeting). You need to be there at 12 so
you can enjoy the reál highlight of the
day and that is fellowshipping with
members, renewing old friendships
and making new friends. For those
who want to listen to good singing, the
Chorál Group from Lodge 88 will be
performing from 12:30 p.m. until 1:00
p.m.
We pian on a brief meeting and your
officers háve prepared their reports to
make it so. Immediately after the
meeting, contests will begin. We will
be judging the “best kolache” afíd the
“prettiest quilt.” The “spinning
wheel” will also be in full swing where
you will be spinning for numerous
dooř prizes.
If you want to swim, bring your
bathing suit and enjoy the Olympic -
size pool which Lodge 88 has
graciously offered tro open for us from
3:30 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. This may be
the last time your children can swim
until next summer, so make it a reál
treat for them too!
The youth will be busy with their
ornaments and achievements display.
The future of the SPJST depends on
our youth, and we need to support
them in every area. The district
likewise needs your support and we
look forward to seeing you at Lodge 88
on September 17th.

Meeting Newsletter
This year’s fall sociál meeting will be
held October 29th at the SPJST Halí in
Hillje, hosted by Lodge No. 40, El
Campo - Hillje. The following is the
proposed agenda:
11:00 a.m. Noon -- Registration
Noon -12:45 p.m. - Meal
12:45 - 1:15 p.m. - Business
Meeting
1:15 - 1:30 p.m. - Announcements
1:30 - 2:30 p.m. -- Youth Program
2:30 - 2:45 p.m. - Purchasing Youth
Tickets for Drawing
2:45 - 3:15 p.m. - Youth Drawings
3:15 - 3:30 p.m. -- Contest Results
3:30 - 5:00 p.m. -- Games,
Refreshments, Sociál
Dooř prizes will be given throughout
the afternoon. Any member or lodge
may donate an item for the dooř prize
if they wish to.
This is a district affair and all lodges
are asked to assist and participate. To
help with the expenses, each lodge is
requested to send 10 cents for each
member in their lodge. The number of
lodge members can be obtained from
your lodge secretary or from the
Supreme Lodge. Please send your
contribution, along with the possible
number of persons attending, to Lodge
No. 40 President Rita Vaněk, P.O.

before October lst.
We are asking each lodge to furnish
2 desserts to serve with the catered
meal and afternoon coffee.
In addition, a Wheel of Fortune
game will be played beginning at 11:00
a.m. and each family attending is
asked to contribute 2 items for the
game.
In conjunction with the sociál, there
will be several contests that members
may wish to enter. The following
contests will be held: quilt, kolache,
horseshoe and volleyball. Rules and
entry blanks may be obtained from
your lodge or statě FAC. The entry
forms should be sent to District VI

We háve had two previous fall sociál
meetings and both háve been a success.
We can háve another with your
assistance and participation. We hope
to see as many of you as possible on

letters, the Czech National Cemetery
Association of East Bernard will hold
its second semi - annual meeting on
September 17th at 2 p.m. in the home
of Lodge Karel Jonas No. 28 on the
corner of Leveridge and Main streets.
On the agenda will be the election of
officers and any items of business
needing attention.
íf anyone has a member of their
family laid to rest in the cemetery, they
are invited and urged to attend the
meeting. Start early and stop by the
cemetery and see the condition it is in;
if you like what you see, help retain

Schedules Festival
Activities
Dear Fellow Lodge Members:
Plans for our second Annual SPJST
Arts and Crafts Czech Festival are now
underway. The event has been
scheduled for Saturday, September
30th from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the
lodge grounds. We are hoping that this
yeaťs festival /will be even more
successful than last year. A variety of
entertainment is being planned. The
festival will include a full day of
activities featuring arts and crafts
(with vendors from throughout the
statě), live music, a Czech museum,
kolache, a variety of food booths,
children’s activities, and much more.
There is no admission charge to the
festival, however, we will conclude the
day’s festivities with a dance featuring
the ever - popular polka and waltz
music, to which there will be a generál
admission charge.
This type of event takés many hours
of dedication and hard work on the
part of our lodge. I will be calling on
you for your assistance in various
areas as plans continue to progress.
Therefore, I thought you may like to
mark the dáte of the festival on your
calendars. Although, it may seem
early, time seems to pass all too
quickly. If I fail to contact you and
you are willing to work at the festival,

An Invitation To
Lodge No. 39, Bryan
Festival
You are invited to participate in the
Annual Arts and Crafts Czech Festival
at the SPJST Lodge No. 39 on
Saturday, September 3Gth, from 9
a.m. to 6 p.m. in Bryan, Texas. It will
be held on the lodge grounds, off
Texas Highway 21 West, near the
Texas A&M Riverside Campus (the
Smetana community). We are hoping
that this year’s festival will be even
