Workshop Participation, Banquet Attendance
Brothers and Sisters,
If you’re a lodge officer, trustee,
sales representative or involved mem-
ber, you are cordially invited to partici-
pate in the SPJST’s annual Lodge
Officers’ Workshop to be held
Saturday, February 27 at Lodge 177,
Academy. Registration begins at 8 a.m.
with the meeting set to begin at 9 a.m.
The workshop will address a range
of timely topics, including:
• Society performance in 1998;
• Efforts made over the past year to
reactivate dormant lodges;
• Information on the effort to seek a
statewide exemption for lodges
from local property taxes;
• An update on issues regarding licen-
sure for local lodge sales representa-
tives; and
• Information on efforts to bring new
life and vitality to our fraternal pro-
gramming efforts, including the
youth program.
There should also be plenty of time
during the workshop to address any
specific questions or suggestions that
you may háve. Or, if you’d rather, you
can direct your inquiries and ideas to
your district director and háve him
bring it up for discussion.
Later that same afternoon, Lodge
177, Academy will also plav host to
our 1999 Lodge Recognition and
Incentive Banquet. All of your local
lodges should háve received informa-
tion on this banquet and how to make
arrangements for additional tickets. If
you háve any questions, please give
the Home Office a call at 1 (800) 727-
7578 and they should be able to help
you out.

Minutes of the January 12,13 and 14,1999
Regular meeting of the Supreme Lodge SPJST
Held at the Home Office, Temple, Texas
The meeting was called to order by Chairman of the Board Vaněk at 8:30 a.m.
with the following Supreme Lodge members present:
Howard Leshikar, President
Leonard D. Mikeska, Vice President
Lanita Anglin, Secretary-Treasurer
Jerry Mikuláš, Financial Secretary
Sidney Kacir, Legal Advisor
Donnie Victorick — District I
Frank Klinkovsky—District II
Johnnie Krizan — District III
Stanley Brož — District IV
Vice Chairman of the Board
Louis Hanuš — District Five
MattS. Vaněk —District VI
Chairman of the Board
Robert Bayer — District VII
The Supreme Lodge Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance and obscrved a
moment of silence in memory of deceased members.
Chairman Vaněk turned the chair over to President Leshikar for the election of
Chairman of the Board and Vice Chairman of the Board. Director Brož nominat-
ed Director Vaněk to be the Chairman of the Board. Director Klinkovsky moved,
seconded by Director Victorick, to elect Director Vaněk as Chairman of the
Board by acclamation. The motion carried unanimously.
Director Bayer nominated Director Brož to be the Vice Chairman of the Board.
Director Hanuš moved, seconded by Director Victorick, to elect Director Brož as
Vice Chairman of the Board by acclamation. The motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Vaněk thanked everyone for electing him Chairman of the Board and for
having trust in him. Director Brož expressed his appreciation for being elected.
Chairman Vaněk welcomed Editor Vaniček to the Supreme Lodge meeting.
MINUTES—The minutes were reviewed page by page. Director Bayer
moved, seconded by Director Brož to accept the minutes. The motion carried
unanimously.
AUDIT—The bank audit was doně December 31, 1998 by Director Klinkovsky,
Vice President Mikeska, Secretary-Treasurer Anglin, and Independent Auditor
Henry L. S. Ježek.
The following audit assignments were made:
