District Six Fun
Day September 22
in El Maton
Dear District Six Members,
It is once again time for our District
Six Fun Day to be held in El Maton
on September 22, 2002.
This year, our contests for mem-
bers 18 years and older are needle-
work, horseshoes, Christmas orna-
ments, and food—this year, it is pies
as in the youth department.
Needlework will be the same as in
past years. It must be doně by hand—
embroidery, crochet, needlepoint—
with the stitches in back showing and
not under glass.
Horseshoes will be as last year.
Christmas ornaments must be
handmade, but not from a kit and not
over six inches in length.
Pies are to be made in a disposable
Container. Pies are not be custard or
háve a meringue and no graham crack-
er crusts. We will be following the
mles from the SPJST Youth Rule Book.
Crusts may be either made or bought.
A copy of the recipe is needed.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m.
and end at 12 p.m. Winners must be
present to receive awards.

barbecue cookoff
District Six invites everyone to join
in the fun at the District Six Barbecue
Cookoff and Festival, Friday and Sat-
urday, September 13 and 14 at Lodge
40, El Campo-Hillje halí on U.S. High-
way 59. The activities will begin Fri-
day night with a fajitas cooking contest
and DJ music from 8 p.m. till 12 a.m.
Saturday’s cookoff entries are beef,
chicken, pork ribs, and beans. For
information on entering the cookoff,
call Debbie Sczech (979) 543-3179; or
Tria Svatek (979) 543-3044.
There will be arts and crafts booths
and consessions will be available. For
booth rental, call Karen Kašpar (979)
543-2532.
We are also having a prize drawing,
wheel of fortuně, and a giant garage
sále. all items donated for the wheel
of fortuně and garage sále will be wel-
comed. You can bring items (please
price garage sále items) to the lodge
halí Friday from 2 till 5 p.m. or Satur-
day moming. For information on the
gargage sále, call Yvonne Garrett
