youth leader reports
on December party

Dear SPJST Readers,
We held our Christmas sociál on
December 13, 1998 at the Taiton
Community Center. The morning start-
ed with youth club members decorating
the halí with garlands and confetti on
the tables. Members sang Christmas
songs. The meal was served at 12:15.
Adult Lodge President Monica Staff
welcomed everyone and lead the mem-
bers in a meal prayer. Everyone
enjoyed a menu of fired chicken,
turkey, dressing and the trimmings
along with desserts that were provided
by the parents. When the youth were
finished with their lunch, youth club
members Jason and Curtis helped
members with making of Christmas
ornaments at one table and Kirby and
Camille helped members with another
type of Christmas ornament. The
members donated them to the WCJC
senior citizen Christmas tree.
The youth club meeting was called
to order by President Rachael Dluhos.
Kenna Bubela led members in the
SPJST motto, prayer and Pledge of
Allegiance. We welcomed all of our
parents and Matt Vaněk, Marcy
Dorotik, Donavan, Joette and Jayca
Krpec to our youth club meeting and
sociál. Members were asked to answer
the rol! call by what they were asking
Santa for Christmas. Minutes were
read and approved. Treasureris report
was given.
Discussion of Old Business
Camp t-shirt forms are due January
31, 1999. For our charity in. January,
we will be having a 100 Pennies
Scholarship Drive collection.
New Business Presented
Youth Leader Bubela told members
of the Officers’ Workshop and State
Lock-in. Members who are planning
to attend need to let me know by
December 28.
Members sang “Happy Birthday” to
our December birthday celebrants—
T.J. Drapela and Trey Staff.
Youth club members brought a toy
to be donated to the Child Protective
Services for Christmas as part of our
charity and community Service project.
It ís always great to make a child
happy, that is what SPJST is all about.
Our next meeting will be January
10, 1999. The meeting was adjoumed
and the members were so very happy
becáuse now it was finally time to
open their Christmas gifts. Youth lead-
ers gave the members a smáli gift and
wished them and their parents a Merry
Christmas and a Happy New Year! v

leader reports on past
monthly activities
Dear SPJST Readers,
The Taiton Youth Club met on
November 1, 1998 at the Taiton
Community Center at 2 p.m. The
meeting was called to order by Vice
President Jason Kašpar, Kirby Bubela
led the members in the motto, pledge
and prayer. We welcomed Hailey
Green and Amber Pina as our guests.
The minutes were read and the treasur-
er’s report was given.
Youth Leader Bubela went over old
business. Our booth at the Taiton Fall
Festival did very weli. Thanks to all of
the youth members and parents who
made it so successful. We congratulat-
ed the scrapbook committee for win-
ning first plače on our scrapbook at
Fraternal Congress. The members
were reminded to start working on
their camp tee-shirt design. The con-
test deadline is January 31,1999.
New Business
The statě winning dance groups
were asked to perform at the American
Legion Veterans Day program on
November 11, 1998 and members dec-
orated cans and put candy inside of
them for dooř prizes for the American
Legion Veterans Day Festival. The
Christmas party was in the planning.
Parents received notes as to what they
are to bring for the Christmas dinner.
We háve received more cookbooks for
sále; they make great Christmas gifts
for friends and family members.
Members Camille, Mandy and Trey
Staff, Stephanie Fucik, Brandon
Drapela, Kirby and Kenna Bubela,
Travis Krpec, Jason and Kýle Kašpar,
Danille and Chase Zalman, Curtis and
Chad Dorotik read Thanksgiving
poems to all the other parents and
members.
We sang “Happy Birthday” to Jarrett
Dluhos, Chad Dorotik and Steven
Drapela.
Members who participated in the
craft contest made a fall or
Thanksgiving arrangement. They also
donated .50 per member for a coaí
drive at a local school.
Our Christmas sociál will be on
Sunday, December 13, 1998 at the
Taiton Community Center. The mem-
bers will all make a craft ornament for
the WCJC senior citízens’ Christmas
tree.
The meeting was adjourned and
refreshments were served by Crystal
Roye, Bethany and Rachael Dluhos.

Youth Club reports on
January meeting
Dear SPJST Readers,
Hope you all had a wonderful new
year. The youth of Lodge 30, Taiton
met on January 10,1999. Vice
President Jason Kašpar called the
meeting to order. Jon Marcaurele led
the members in the prayer, motto and
Pledge of Allegiance. We had one vis-
itor, Allison Fucik. All of the members
welcomed her.
New Business Discussed
We will be collecting or the 100
Pennies Scholarship Drive for January.
The State Officers’ Workshop and
Lock-in will be on January 16 and 17,
1999. The camp tee-shirt designs are
due on January 30,1999.
Old Business
Information was given out from
Reneau Gold on what to do with your
old Christmas cards. You should send
them to St. Jude’s Ranch. Youth
Leader Lisa Bubela explained to the
members that we will háve a guest
speaker at our next meeting, Mr.
Wayne Genzer and his seeing-eye dog,
Kojak. Members are asked to bring a
friend.
Several members read winter poems
and they also made a 100 Pennies
Scholarship Drive Certificate for our
craft contest.
Birthdays that were celebrated at our
birthday sociál were Assistant Youth
Leader Reneau Gold and Monica Staff.
We sang to Camille Staff and Brandon
Drapela.
Our next meeting will be February
21, 1999. Our charity will be to make
a donation to the Eye-dog Association.
The meeting was adjoumed.
Youth club members presented Mrs.
Gold and Mrs. Staff with a birthday
party after the meeting. A decorated
cake that read “Happy Birthday, Mrs.
Gold and Mrs. Staff’ in pretty spring
colors, punch and hamburger cheese
díp were served. The members pre-
sented them with a smáli gift.

Lodge 88, Houston
youth club discusses
future activites,
fund raisers
Dear Readers,
On Wednesday, January 6, the new
youth club officers for Lodge 88 held
their first officers’ meeting of 1999.
All of the new officers for 1999 were
in attendance.
We discussed what kinds of socials
and filed trips we would like to háve in
1999, and we also discussed doing
some fund raisers.
On Sunday, January lOth, the new
officers will be instailed.
Don’t forget, we need youth mem-
bers help in the kitchen on Thursday
nights. Parents are welcome also. See
you at the next youth meeting on
January 20.
