’99 TSCHS statě meeting
Fayettevilíe will host the Texas State
Czech Heriíage Societv State Meeting
on November 20, 1999 at the SPJST
Hail in Fayettevilíe. For related Infor-

The dáte for our chili supper has
been changed from February 20th to
Saturday, February 27th from 5:30 to
8:00 p.m.

Our President, Brother AI
Soukup, called the meeting to order
with Traci Dobecka leading us in the
Pledge of Allegiance. Roli call of offi-
cers was held with all being present.
Sister Georgie Soukup was called
upon for her report. She reported 26
members and three guests present.
Guests were Lori and Tony McBride
and Don and Genie Watts. A warm
welcome to our guests. It was good to
háve Don and Genie Watts with us
from Rosebud. Glad they were able to
join us. We all look forward to seeing
them again reál soon.

very important to get that help fast
within the first hour of a heart attack
hefore more damage to the heart mus-
cle can occur.
Our Secretarv, Sister Barbara Jean
Hykel, was called upon for the reading
of the minutes from our last meeting.
She also had lots of correspondence to
read and share with e very one.
Sister Peggy Dobecka, Treasurer,
gave. her report and it was accepted as
given. Sister Peggy also gave the
youth club report as she is our Youth
Leader. She reported attending the
workshop and later all went to the
Lock-in at the Waco Family Y. She
reported they all enjoyed themselves
tremendously and it was well attended.
Sister Peggy reported that Valentine
cookies were made by the youth and
distributed to the residents at the West
Rest Haven. The youth will háve a
kite-flying contest at their next meet-
ing.
Brother George Straten, Financial
Secretary, gave his report of 11 adult
and two juvenile policies for Lodge 6.
We all welcome new members and
invite them to come on out to our
meetings on the first Sunday of each
month or watch the Věstník calendar of
activities for lodges in čase of a change
in dáte. Brother George also reported a
transfer to Lodge 90, Brother L.L.
Muehlstein.
Brother Johnnie Krizan, District prize was drawn with the winner not
Three Director, commended our lodge
on contributions that were mentioned
and being able to give back to the com-
munity and other worthy organizations.
He mentioned the Charitable
Contributions C-ommittee consisting of
five people—Brothers George Sulak
and Hobby Dobecka, and Sisters Stella
Perez, Evelyn Bezdek and Georgie
Soukup. Brother Johnnie also men-
tioned that there were 29 candidates for
Fraternalist of the Year, with five being
in District Three, with Brother Sid win-
ning this honor. He thanked Brother
Robert Dobecka as being one of the
finalists.
Brother Krizan also mentioned that
the District Three Meeting was coming
up on April 25 at Lodge 154, Fort
Worth, Texas. He encouraged all to
pian on attending if possible. He also
recognized a top producer in the statě
of Texas with SPJST, Brother Jerry
Kučera with Lodge 6, being a million-
dollar producer. Ile recognized all of
our lodge’s sales representatives and
thanked them for a job well doně. Our
sales representatives are himself,
Brother Krizan, Sister Ruth Krizan,
Brother B.J. Hlavatý, Brother Robert
Dobecka and Brother Jerry Kučera.
present, Erica Andrle. We all then
exchanged other various dooř prizes. I
do want to thank Sister Ruth Krizan for
her donation of a dooř prize that I,
my šelf, won. It was very uniquc.

Thanks to our chefs, Brother Jerry
and Sister Dorothy Kučera for a won-
derful meaí. Thanks to their helpers in
the preparation and thanks io all the
ladies for bringing desserts.
Our next meeting will be Sunday,
March 7th at 2 p.m. Come out and join
us. When you, as iodge members,
aren’t at our meetings, you are very
much missed. Think about it!!

Lodge 15, Buckholts
to host State “42”
tournament March 20
Important Health Information
Our guest, Lori McBride, was with
us today as an invited speaker. She is a
Paramedic with the West Ambulance
Association and she is also an
American Heart Association
Representative. She spoke to us all
about heart attacks. We all thank her
very much for coming out to speak to
us on the warning signals of a heart
attack and the risk factors involved,
along with watching your diet. She
also left with us several flyers and
leaflets of some very good information.
Lori also stressed the importance of not
waiting if you are not sure of what is
happening, because she said it is better
to be safe than sorry. She also stressed
the importance of calling 911 for an
ambulance, instead of trying to get
someone to také you to the hospital, or
to drive yourself. She said ambulances
Gearing Up for Tournaments
Sister Nelda Hlavatý, Fraternal
Activities Coordinator, gave her report
on game tournaments coming up and
encouraged all to please join in the
activities. She reported that the Tarok
tournament was coming up soon on
February 20th at Lodge 66, Waco. The
Straight Domino Tournament is at our
own Lodge 6, Cottonwood on March
6th. Sister Nelda asked for some
helpers for that day. She also reported
that the 42 tournament was at
Buckholts, Lodge 15 on March 20th.
She is looking forward to a good
crowd at our straight domino tourna-
ment, when at the same time encourag-
ing our lodge members to participate in
all the statě game tournaments. Sister
Nelda also reported that the Pennies
Scholarship Drive would continue until
March 31st.
Brother Jerry Kučera, District Three
Sales Representative, was called upon
to speak. Brother Jerry read a letter of
correspondence from the Home Office
for Brother Robert Dobecka, regarding
his being one of the top four finalists in
the Fraternalist of the Year Awards and
receiving Honorable Mention. Brother
Jerry also mentioned that our lodge is a
Platinum Award Winner. He asked that
everyone please give Sister Lydia
Dobecka, our lodge’s Fraternal
Activities Coordinator for 1998, a
Sunshine Committee
Oops! I am about to forget the
Sunshine Committee’s report. Sister
Hattie Kaska reported sending get well
cards to Brother Raymond Marek,
Sister Ester Malina, Brother Willie
Skerik (surgery), Brother Harvey
Prnka. She also reported sending a
second card to Brother Willie Skerik in
the ICU Unit. Wishing all of you a
speedy recovery. Brother AI was at
our meeting and was doing nicely.
Sister Kaska also reported sending
sympathy cards to Mrs. Anton J.
Pustejovsky, Mrs. Willie Mae Schuetz
and Mrs. Sandra Kay Baron.
All of you brothers and sisters that
love to play dominos, be sure and
come to Lodge 6, Cottonwood, on
Saturday, March 6th. Send in those
registration forms reál soon. Meal for
the day will be barbeeued
brisket/sausage with all the trimmings.
Come out and háve a fun day with us.
The Board of Trustees report was
given by Brother George Straten. He
gave the halí bookings with the first
Sunday of the month in April taken.
Therefore, he reported that our Easter
meeting would be on March 28th with
an egg hunt, party and dinner. New
Board of Trustees are:
President Gladys Allison convened
the meeting at 6 p.m. All officers were
present.
Albert Gerick was weicomed as a
guest.
The minutes and treasurer’s reports
were given and approved as was a
committee report.
We are looking forward to hosting
the State “42” Domino Tournament on
March 20.
Our stew dinner has been postponed
due to community activities.
Several business items were taken
care of.
The books were audited and found
to be in good shape.
The next meeting is February 8,
1999 at 6 p.m.

Dear Members and Friends,
A delicious spaghetti dinner was
served prior to the February meeting of
Lodge 24, Cyclone. Thanks to
LaVerne and Jerry Cabla who prepared
the dinner, and thanks to lodge mem-
bers who provided additional dishes
and desserts.
After dinner, Vice President
LaVerne Cabla called the meeting to
order at 7:30 p.m. Members recited the
Pledge of Allegiance and then
observed a moment of silence for
deceased lodge and community mem-
bers. We extend our sympathy to the
