6/VĚSTNÍK — Wednesday, February 17,1982
be surprised how handy it is on a
rainy day and you can’t do anything
but watch TV.
The thought struck me, “I should
go see someone today.” Well, I háve
learned should and doing are very
different, because I didn’t go to visit
and the next day was too latě.
Visiting the shut-ins and the rest
homes can be depressing for us, but
think how many faces light up when
you walk in.
Pins are really odd things, they are
pointing in one direction but headed
in another.

News From Pasadena
Lodge No. 172
Dear Members, lodge leaders from
all over Texas, editor of our Vestnik,
photographers of the beautiful
pictures in the VeKstnik, and
Supreme Lodge officers; we love
you.
To begin with, most of all, we
admire and love all, not to forget the
sick in the homes for the aged, in the
hospitals wherever throughout
Texas. All of you are in our minds
and our prayers every day and that
those of you who may be out of
circulation from among us, will be
back soon enjoying themselves with
us.
Most of all we, in Pasadena Lodge
No, 172, are only a one-family type
group as brothers and sisters who
are kind to everyone, but you háve
to come and find out for yourselves
about our attitude and the friendli-
ness extended when being
welcomed.
Our dance, held Saturday night,
was a reál success; everyone danced
and enjoyed themselves very much
to the delightful music of “The
Fabulous Six”, known as the ‘Fluger-
ville Speciál’.
At the dooř, on the 6th of
Februarý, were hosts Sister Loraine
and Brother Douglas Wylip. Oh,
were they happy ones! We all enjoy
their Services. Our floor was really
clean, beautiful and sleek and shiney
one and everyone was happy, and
the country-western and old-time
music was tremendously enjoyed
provided by the “Fabulous Six.” Mr.
Fritz Hodde is the bandleader and
one admiring drummer joined them
in for a break to play drums, because
his feet could not stand still from not
slapping at the drum pedál, was one
of the dancing enthusiasts from the
Dixie Kings Orchestra and also a
lady singing vocalist was with him.
Thank you both for being with us
Saturday!
Our other dance held Saturday,
with music played by “The Hearts of
Texas Czechs” also played variety
music to the happy people.
February 20, the music at the
dance will be furnished by the “City
Polka Boys”, a well-known band
from Houston, who also play variety
music. Come one, come all; don’t
forget “BYGB” and other set-ups
will be available at the bar, so don’t
be shy and come to dance with us
and be our Valentine.
Our Sister Evelyn and Brother
Josef Herbie Kimmons celebrated
their 40th Wedding Anniversary
Saturday at 5 p.m. in a gorgeous,
most beautiful palace of Mr. and
Mrs. Jim Stathakis in the Garden
Oaks area, which was hosted along
with Sister Maxine and Brother
James Whittiker. A great number of
friends were present to help them
celebrate; it really was nice, and a
delicious meal of barbecue and
goodies served by James Whittiker.
Everything was so delicious that no
one present could resist the
temptation and it was a reál treat
from the great King Farouk, Mr.
Jim, the Greek. They own a fabulous
Greek restaurant and be their
guests for they háve a reál treat for
all and telí them you read about it in
the SPJST Vestnik.
Eddie and Mary Pozderny,
Charlie and Annabell Foster, Mary
and Chris Holton, and Gladys and
Otto Geske went to Corpus Christi,
Texas to a family barbecue at the
Moravan Halí. A blessed trip is
wished to them there and back.
Eddie, be a good chauffeur in your
big motor home to your passengers;
drive 55 and savé a life.
Brothers and sisters, let your
conscience be your guide and be
inviting your relatives and friends
to a very successful and great-
growing fraternal organization in
our SPJST at Pasadena, Houston
and all surrounding areas through-
out Texas. Don’t be shy, invite, and
you will be greatly rewarded for
showing your fraternalism: “Do unto
others as others do unto you.” Show
your pride in our SPJST lodges. Our
saies representatives are on the balí
and watch later, etc.
God bless all of you everywhere!
Fraternally,
John T. Mikeska

Dallas Circle of
Czech Women News
Due to bad weather, the Circle did
not meet in February. Since we do
not háve a meeting in January, this
makes two months since we háve
met. Here’s hoping that we will háve
favorable weather from now on.
Mrs. Marie Janečka, of Arlington,
Texas, sister-in-law of Sister Agnes
Janečka, sent a donation to the
Circle for which we are very
thankful.
Congratulations to: Alan and
Peggy Younts updn their marriage
in January, (Alan is the grandson of
Sister Vallie Tupý) and Sherri and
Danny Vrla upon becoming parents
of a son, Dean Edwin, also grand-
parents, Helen and Arnold Vrla and
great-grandmother, Helen Vrla, Sr.
There are several on the sick list
and to each of the following, on
behalf of the Circle, is wished a
speedy recovery: Sisters Anna
Noska, Mary Stránský, and Lillian
Spain and Paul Dujka, Bob
Zvolanek, Stanley Slovák, Milan
Dujka and Mary Dujka.
Sincere sympathy is expressed to
Sherri and Danny Vrla and relatives
in the loss of one of the twin sons, to
Vallie Tupý whose brother-in-law,
Rufus Light of Temple, Texas,
passed away in January, and to
Libbie and Alvin Elsik, (Alvin’s
sister passed away in Kansas).
Anně and Bob Zvolanek took a
Caribbean cruise in January. They
made six ports and visited in
Venezuela, Brazil. They reported
that they had a wonderful time.

planned for our March meeting.
Bring your favorite dish, also a smáli
gift for the drawing, and your dues
