WHEREAS, the City of Temple is greatly honored to join in celebra-
tion on this joyous occasion of observing 100 years of Service by the
Slavonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas (SPJST);
WHEREAS, the SPJST is a proud organization with a colorful history
and a bright future and we desire to salute its historical heritagc and
its many years of Service to the community;
WHEREAS, the purpose of the SPJST is to provide securiíy for its
members and the families of the insurcd and to provide a wholesome
family environment for the entire family unit, endeavoring to promote
the common bond by keeping alive and encouraging the cherished
tradition of the Czech history, culture, heritage, and family;
WHEREAS, the citizens in Temple are proud of the SPJST Home
Office located at 520 North Main which serves as both a center of
business and a center of Czech culture and tradition, as well as a
meeting plače for various civic groups; and
WHEREAS, we desire to extend heartfelt appreciation to the SPJST
for 100 years of Service to so many.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, J.W. PERRY, Mayor of the City of Temple,
Texas, with great pride, do hereby recognize July 12th and 13th,
1997, as the
“lOOth Anniversary of the SPJST”
in the City of Temple, Texas, and I uige all citizens to recognize this
outstanding organization for its 100 years of helping to bring finan-
cial security and working to bring people together.
