Suburbia News $500 Scholarship
Contest
SUBURBIA NEWS IS LOOKING FOR A NEW
HEADER LOGO
Suburbia News is
looking for high school or
collage students to create a
logo for the newspaper
header. The winner of the
contest will receive a $500
scholarship from The Sub-
urbia News.
In our on going effort
to modernize our home
town newspaper, we fell
that it is important to have
a logo that embodies the
heart and spirit of our
growing community.
The logo will be used
in the header of The Subur-
bia News. An example of a
logo in the header would be
the “Kaufman Herald” who
has a blue minute man in
the header.
The rules for the con-
test are as follows.
1. Only original artwork
will be considered, (no
standard clip art, etc..)
2. All work must be sub-
mitted by email, by
sending it to
t-pugh@sbcglobal.net
3. Only current high
school or collage stu-
dents can submit art
work for consideration
4. All artwork will be first
judged by a panel se-
lected by The Suburbia
news, then the top 5 en-
tries will be printed in
the April 19th edition of
The Suburbia News to
be judged by the sub-
scribers of The Subur-
bia News.
The winner will have
their picture taken and
published in The Suburbia
news and be presented a
scholarship in the amount
of $500.
The winning artwork
will become the permanent
property and header logo
of The Suburbia News.
COMPUTER
CRIMES
On December 27, a
Diamond Shamrock atten-
dant on Malloy Bridge
Road became concerned
about a truck that had been
parked at the station for
some time and called Sea-
goville Police.
Police responding to
the call found a man asleep
in the vehicle, identification
is not being released at this
time. A search of the vehi-
cle uncovered a computer
and printer with paper stock
for printing checks.
A Police spokesman
stated that the vehicle was
taken into custody and the
check equipment was con-
fiscated. “We have checked
with local business to deter-
mine if any of these checks
might have been cashed in
our community. So far we
have not found any, so it
looks as if he was just driv-
ing through and stopped to
sleep in the wrong town.
We will turn over all the
information to the District
Attorneys office and they
will determine any further
action to be taken. We can’t
hold him with the informa-
tion we have now but we
have all his equipment in
custody and he has been
told and understands that
Seagoville is not the place
he wants to be.”
In another on going
investigation, Seagoville
Police uncovered another
computer operation this
time the suspects were
making credit cards at a
Golden Motel. They be-
came aware of the situation
when staff at the motel
called police and informed
them of unusual activity.
A police spokesman
stated that the investigation
“will lead to several more
arrest before its comple-
tion.”

A little over five years
ago a concept was devel-
oped that has or will be-
come one of the largest and
most costly public works
projects in history. This
concept was to develop
transportation corridors
across Texas which would
move people and goods,
cheaper and faster and with
greater safety than ever be-
fore. That concept has been
called the Trans Texas
Corridors, and each day it
appears that the develop-
ment of this system will
affect those living in our
community.
The map shown be-
low indicated additional
corridor systems that are
under consideration. The
first and the one that
concerns this community
is referred to as TTC-35,
for the most part this
project follows the exist-
ing 1-35, until it reaches
Waco where it veers off
and swings east of Dallas
and passes through our
area.

Seagoville High School
Gets Students Ready for
TAKS
Parents, now is the
time to make sure your stu-
dents are ready for the
TAKS test on February 20th
- 23rd, 2007. Beginning
January 8th, tutoring will be
available at Seagoville High
School from 4:00 - 5:00 pm
Monday through Thursday.
Starting January 13th, tuto-
rials will be each Saturday
from 9:00 - 12:00. Ms.
Klaus, the principal at Sea-
goville High will provide a
bus that will run the Seago-
ville route in the afternoon
and on Saturdays for those
students needing transporta-
tion.
It is very important
that both parents and stu-
dents realize the value of
the state test and how the
test effects not only their
graduation but also their
school and commu-
nity. The community of
Seagoville should be proud
of their schools. To make
schools successful there
must be involved par-
ents. Parents involved in
all aspects of their child's
education and that includes
testing. Making sure your
student is in school the day
of testing, has proper rest
the day before testing and
eats a good breakfast before
school the day of testing are
all important steps that you
can take to ensure your
child is performing at their
peak during testing.
Although testing is
still over a month away,
now is the time to start get-
ting your child ready. Be
mindful of what you stu-
