The Happy FFA Chapter held
their meeting Monday evening.

kin-carving contest

wiches in the concession stand
tomorrow night at the football
game. Kickoff against Valley is at
7:30
Happywill host thedistrict cross-
country meet in AmarilloTucsday
at Thompson Park. The junior
high will run at 4 p.m. with junior
varsity and varsity following The
varsity girls are looking to qualify
for the regional meet that will be
held in Lubbock on Nov 8 at Mac
Simmons Park and then on to
Round Rock to the state meet on
Nov 15
The annual Eastern Star ham-
burger supper will be tomorrow
from 5-7:30 p.m. in the school
cafeteria. The cost for a ham-
burger, fries and a drink is $4. A
slice of homemade pie is $1 Take
out orders are available.
The Happy Band Boosters are
encouragingyoung and old spooks
and goblins to attend the annual
Halloween canuval on Saturday
evening at the community center
from 6 - 9 p m. Don your cos-
tumes or come asyou are for games,
food, and good times.
Enter the costume contest from
6-7‘15 p.m. for $. Judging of the
six categories will begin at 7:30
p.m. Prizes will be given to the
top three winners in each of the
following categories: preschool,
Kindergarten - second grade, third
- fifth grade, sixth - eighth grade,
high school, and adult.
The Catholic church will host
thcirenchiladadinnerSundayfrom
11 a.m. to 1 30 p.m. The menu
includes enchiladas, beans, Span-
ish nee, salad and homemade des-
sert. Children ages 5 - 12 eat for
$3; adult plates are $6.
FCCLA Has Leadership
Training In Dimmitt
On October 14, twenty-one
members of the Tuha High
School chapter of the
FCCLA attended a leadership
workshop in Dimmitt Members
were given an opportunity to
learn about the club through
games and break-out sessions.
Claudia Benavidez, the local
chapter president, went up on
stage for roll call Then, Jo Anna
Rosales played the Millionaire
game and was the first contes-
tant but lost out on tlie second
question
However, she did find out who
her friends were when she was
asked if she wanted a lifeline.
She looked into the audience
only to find the rest of the Tulia
students semnehed so far down
into their chairs that they were
virtually invisible.
The students then attended
break-out sessions, where they
learned a little bit about the
Power of One, STAR events,
Community Service activities
and Parliamentary Procedure. It
was a very fast two hours, but
an enjoyable trip.

gathered at the Amarillo Airpprt
Wednesday evening to welcome
Biyan Charanga home after a
year m Germany and six months
in Baghdad Channel 4 and 7
were also there to interview him
Everyone then gathered at the
Big Texan to enjoy a meal
Bryan was recognized there by
Ed Montana and a big round of
applause.
On Saturday evening Bryan's
mother, Donna, hosted a fun
party for him at the home of Dan
and Karen Gerber Dustin Ram-
aekers was also welcomed home
He is based in Arkansas in the
Army
Angela Acker, along with
three members of Court Blessed
Anne Marie Taigi #2167 of
Amarillo went to Sugarland to
attend the 100th anniversary cel-
ebration and retreat of the
Catholic Daughters of the Amer-
icas. Bishop Aymond of Austin
was in attendance for the spe-
cial mass, along with several
court chaplains from surround-
ing parishes 208 women at-
tended from all over the state
National Catholic Daughter
Day was celebrated Sunday noon
at the Home Mercantile in
Nazareth with a dinner, attended
by Catholic Daughter member
* and their guest, Nancy Bucli-
anon, who received her 25 year
membership pin and Norma
Schacker, who received her 50
year membership pm
After the dinner a program
entitled History of Dairy Farm-
ing was in the Home Mercan-
tile Guests were John and
Chester ElifT from Tulia, Tony
and Angela Acker, singer Andy
Wilkinson of Lubbock and local
dauy families.

Durbin from Tulia and Joan
Durbin recently attended Leo
and Buddy Duiiuns' 50th wed-
ding anmversaiy in Russellville,
Ark On their way, Leo and
Marian toured the Blue Wave
Boat Manufacturing family
ow ned business which is run by
Leo's nieces family, Pam and
Roger Parks. On their way home
Jeff and Joan toured the same
company at Cheotah, Okla. They
also toured their ranch, where
Pam cares for their registered
Charolais cattle.
