A Dinner is to Follow the Annual

Vice President Sherman.
Washington. D. C., Jan. 81.-
Whether or not the National Associa-
tion of Wool Manufacturers shall in-
dorse the administration plan of tar-
iff revision, including the tariff com-
mission- idea, probably will be made
known at the association's annual
meeting and dinner in. this city- to-
morrow. No group of men id the
country is more deeply concerned
In the proper revision of the customs
duties than are the wool manufac-
turers. Recently many of the great
woi-cden numufa* t urers of New Eng-
land ami other sections are said to
have come around to the view that
one of the resultg of the work of the
tariff board will be to protect their
interests.
The plans for the dinner to follow
the association's annual meeting to-
nforrow are of unusual significance
The special guests will he the three
members of the tariff board and
Chairman Ilehry C. Emery will make
an address. Other simakers will be
Vice President Sherman, Senator
Lodge of Massachusetts and Senator
Warren of Wyoming. The members
of the senate finance, and house ways
and means committees, have also
been invited to the dinner.

all the seasons of their lives, as maid-

simple, wholesome laxative remedy,
which acts gently and pleasantly and
naturally and which may be taken at
any time, when the system needs a

It has that true delicacy of flavor
which is so refreshing to the taste,
that warming and grateful toning to
the stomach which responds so favor-

cleansing Is required.

Hoard.
St. Louis, Mo., Jan. 31.—Follow-
ing one of the warmest municipal
campaigns in the history of St Louis
the new city charter was put before
the people for ratification at a spec-

a few officials. It provides for a
mayor with broad powers and indi-
vidual responsibility for the acts
of ids whole administration and lor
a single legislative body. Between
seven and eight thousand positions
in the municipal service are to be
placed under control of a civil ser-
vice commission. Three executives
and fifteen couneilmen are to he the
.only elective officers. Many of the
depaitments of the municipal gov-
ernment are to he consolidated and
others will be abolished entirely.

scribed for practically all the of-

to lie increased from $5,000 to $10,-
