CEIVED FOR SCHOLARSHIP
Austin, Texas, March 14.—Applica-
tions for the Daughter of American
Revolution scholarship in the Univer-
sity of Texas will be received now
by Mrs. Neil Carothers, chairman of
the committee. This scholarship of
$4,000 was founded in 1913 by the
Dagubters of American Revolution in
Texas.) Pour years later it was in-
creased to $5,000, and the beneficiary
now receives $300 annually. A com-
pletely furnished room in the woman’s,
building is provided for the girl hold
ing the scholarship. Preference will
be given to juniors and seniors.
The committee on awards consists
of the State Regent of the D. A. R,.,
Mrs. Lipscomb Norvel, Beaumont;
President R. E. Vinson of the Univer-
sit yof T?exas, Professor Lilia M. Casis
slty of Texas, Professor Lilia M. Casts
and Mrs. Neil Carothers. The scholar-
ship will be awarded in May, and ap-
plications should be accompanied by
three short letters of recommenda,-
tion. In the selection of the benefici-
ary, health, scholarship and earnest-
ness of purpose will be considered.
Holders of the scholarship since its
establishment have been in every way
representative students. Miss Ruth
Harrell of Brownwood, the present
holder, is a senior who, besides mak-
ing unusually good records as a stu-
dent, takes an active interest in a
number of student activities.

Strain and wife, Sarah A. Strain, and
R. N. Strain, and the unknown heirs
and legal representatives of the said
J. F. Strain and wife, Sarah A. Strain,
and R. N. Strain, deceased, J. T. Blair
and the unknown heirs and legal rep-
resentatives of the said J. T. Blair,
deceased, are defendants, and said
petition alleging;
That on or about the 1st day of
February, A- D. 1919. plaintiff was
lawfully seized and possessed of the
following described land and premi-
ses, situated in Parker county, Texas,
holding and claiming the same in fee
simple, to-wit: Containing 160} acres
of land, situated about 10} miles S.
39 deg. W. from Weatherford, in Par-
ker county, Texas, out of the James
Clayton Sur„ Pat. No. 923, Vol. 13,
dated Jan. 31, 1857 .abstract No. 226:
Beginning at the S. E- cor. of a sur.
in the name of Jas. Clayton a P. O.

tract containing 233 1-3 acres) con-
veyed by John E. Everett and wife
to Geo. Porter by deed dated Jan. 29,
1881, and recorded in book 9, page
867, Deed Records Of Parker county,
Texas, which said 73 acres is fully
described in said deed to which ref-
erence is, here made.
That on the day and year last afore-
said defendants ''unlawfully entered
upon said premises and ejected plain-
tiff therefrom and unlawfully with-
hold from him the possession thereof,
to his damages in the sum of $.._.........
Plaintiff says that he ought to have
and recover Judgment against the
above said defendants for the land
described above, for this, that he,
and those whose estate he has, claim-
ing the same under a deed and deeds
duly registered, has bad peaceable,
continuous and adverse possession of
the land and tenements described
above ih this petition, cultivating, us-
ings and enjoying the same, and pay-
ing all taxes due thereon, for a period
of omre than five years before the fil-
ing. and commencement of this suit,
and this he is ready to verify.
Plaintiff would further show to the
court that on the 7th day of Oct. A:
D. 1878, J. F. Strainand wife, Sarah
A. Strain, and R. N. Strain, conveyed
the land in question to Mrs. L. H.
Blair, and as part consideration the
said grantee therein executed two
notes each for the sum of $880.00,
due and payable as follows: Jan. 1,
Ifjjfi, and* Jan. 1, 1880, respectively,
of record in book 8,

said deed being of record in book 9,
page 38, Deed Records of Parker
county, Texas, and, as part consider- }
ation, the said grantee therein exe-
cuted two certain notes for the sum
of $1,000.00, and one note for $600.00, {
that said notes have iong since been
paid and the same are barred by lim-
itation, but through oversight they
have never been released.
Wherefore, plaintiff prays the court
that the defendants be cited to ap-
pear and answer 'this petition, and
that upon bearing hereof he have and
recover judgment for all the right,
title qnd possession to said above de-
scribed land and that each and all of
said notes be cancelled and the lien
removed and swept away .and for all
relief, general and special, legal and
equitable, as in thO judgment of the
court he may be entitled to, etc.
Herein fail not but have before said
court, at jts aforesaid regular term,
this writ with your return thereon,
showing how you have executed the
same.
Given under my hand and the seal
of said court, at office in Weather-
ford, Texas, this the 27th day of Feb-
ruary, A. D. 1919.

of a tract of 61 acres patented by the
State of Texas to Mrs. B. R. Young,
by patent dated Oct. 12, 1904, said 27

said 61 acres tract; (hence east 148
varas a cor., the N. E. cor. of said
tract; thence south 596 varas; thence
east 27 varas; thence south <517 va-
ras, a corner; thence west 175 varas
to the W. B. line of said 61 acre tract;
thence north with the W. B. line of
said 61 acre tract 913 varas to the
place of beginning.
Also, the following described tract
and parcel of land, to-wit r Being 149
acres of land in Parker county, Texas,
described as follows: Beginning at
the N. W. cor. of the 61 acre tract of
land patented by the State of Texas
to Mrs. B. R. Young ,on the 12th day
of October, 1904; thence south with
the W. B. line of said 61 acre tract
913 varas a cor.; thence west 925
varas & cor.; thence north 913 varas

said the unknown heirs and legal rep-

representatives of said J. L. Level,
deceased, unlawfully entered upon
the said 149 acres above described
