Exchange program seeks support
Bellaire High School
is holding a bond drive
to raise funds for their
student exchange pro-
gram.
Bellaire High will be
sponsoring a Bond Drive
March 8, to help make it
possible for the Bellaire
chapter to continue to
participate in the Inter-
national/Inter-Cultural
Program.
Students in the school
chapter will be out in
force all day Saturday
collecting for the drive.
The International/
Inter-cultural Program
or AFS, American Field
Service, has been a part
of the programing at the
school since 1963.
Each year students
from different countries
are selected to come to
America and join in the
educational and cultural
experiences that are
offered through this
program. High schools
throughout the country
share in this program.
In return, students
from American high
schools are selected to
go abroad.
This year Bellaire
High has welcomed
Milica Jovovia from
Yugoslavia.
Milica is living with
her host family, Alan

during ‘‘save your vision
week.”
‘‘Save your vision
week” will be observed
during the week of
March 1 through 7 by
members of the Harris
County Optometric
Society (HCOS) and the
American Optometric
Association.
This annual event is
intended to increase
public awareness of the
importance of good
vision care and eye
health.
During "Save Your
Vision Week,” mem-
bers of the HCOS will
conduct free glaucoma
screenings and vision
checks by appointment
in their offices.
Anyone wishing to
take advantage of these
free services may call
the HCOS Referral
number 729-2020 to find
