Application of a doctor's advice
to let the phone ring even six times
instead of rushing to answer it is
apparently paying off.
Prematurely getting intense over
situations as one does, especially
yours truly, is wasted emotion.
Rarely does one have to, so we
might as well take it easy, have
patience, and accept what is to
happen, will.
The topics one has had range of
emotions about is the Super
Collider cancelled, which in West
Texas opinions, should have been
located in Glasscock County. Less
moisture to be eliminated in more
than a ten mile tunnel. More ex-
pense to have it maintained than
what is lost by starting it in that
location, Politics. And the other is
NAFTA trade agreement with
Canada and Mexico, and the good
old sucker, the USA.
We have had an advantage in the
trade agreement with Canada.
However, since we have given
12 million dollars annually lo
Mexico for a good many years, why
should we give more for the bribery
and corruption of Mexico's business
men that can't be corrected at this
time.
Granted, that President Salinas
has accomplished noted improve-
ment by releasing government-
owned businesses that should never
have been nationalized, but the
situation can't be corrected in his
terms of office.
How long will he be in office and
who is to follow his leadership in the
right direction toward improvement
of the individual?
Wail and don't sign the NAFTA.
Watch how politics rears its ugly
head. We do have to rely on a few
level-headed senators and repre-
sentatives who listen to public
opinion.
We may be a voice in the wil-
derness. But if we do band together,
we might make a difference.
And may wc remind you that not
one voice of the elected
representatives for NAFTA ever
mentions the 12 million dollars wc
have been giving Mexico.
