Graduating seniors of 1959 and 1960 gathered at the home of Mrs. Joyce Johnson on the afternoon of May 21 to
celebrate a Spring Fling. The social gathering was a time of reminiscing of days gone by many who enjoyed seeing
each other and catching up on times gone by a barbecue supper was enjoyed by all.
Remember that God has a purpose for all of us

ne of the great needs
I levery human being
has is the need for
purpose and the promise of
.success.
Z, The month of June is named
3S>r the Roman goddess, Juno,
ijyho was the wife of Jupiter.
3Jer name means “young” and
“‘love.” June is known as the
UJionth for marriage.
I" May and June are happy
^months full of sunshine,
.fresh fruits and vegetables,
■and longer daylight hours.
.The longer daylight helps
vegetables and fruits to grow
Jnd ripen.
~ In the Holy Bible, God
promised the Israelites a land
■flowing with milk and honey.
For 400 years they longed to
live in the promised land of
plenty.
They lost their courage
and failed to do as God had
commanded them to do. So,
they wandered for 40 more
years in the wilderness under
■the leadership of Moses.
Finally after 440 years,
Moses died and God chose
Joshua to lead them into the
Promised Land. Of all those
thousands who left Egypt,
only Joshua and Caleb were
allowed by God to enter the
Promised Land. They had the
right spirit, a positive attitude
and positive faith in God.
The promise made to
Joshua was, “No one shall
be able to stand against you
all the days of your life. As I
was with Moses, so I will be
with you; I will not fail you
or forsake you. Be strong and
courageous; for you shall put
this people in possession of
the land that I swore to their
ancestors to give them.” This
promise given in Joshua 1:5,
6 is given to you. God will
not fail you or forsake you.
So be strong and courageous.
You have a purpose and the
promise of success.
June comes to remind each
of us of the fact that God has
a great plan for us. We are
set aside to have success and
prosperity according to the
will of God. June in Northern
Hemisphere is a month when
crops are harvested, but in
the Southern Hemisphere is
the equivalent to December
which is a month of rest.
For many centuries, June is
thought to be a lucky month
for marriage. This is one of
the reasons many couples
marry in June.
There is hopefulness about
the future in June. There is
a song which says, “Summer
time, when the living is easy,
fish are jumping and the cotton
is high.”
This is a song or lullaby
parents sing to their babies
to comfort them. It is in our
memory.
Joyce wrote a poem this
week entitled, “On The Road
to Happy Success.”
We praise Thee
Almighty Father God for
creating your loving and
winning plan, for your
inspiration and visionary
successfulness unto a
life of joy (not losing)
placed in the heart of
man. We’re thankful for
our precious country—O
Beautiful America who
exists today through the
many and fallen soldiers
who bravely fought to
gain your desirable way.
We are reminded of
God’s story of Israel—how
they endured four hundred
years of Pharaoh’s plot...
into a slavery they so
harshly labored...yet you
truly never forgot. Moses
inspired from the burning
bush heard your awesome
powerful cry... to lead
your children Israel to the
promised land for all...
how they bitterly cried and
complained for 40 years
against Moses and your
deliverance provisional
ways...yet there was
still hope for Joshua and
Caleb...the only two who
survived of millions to
the promised land minus
fear. From Jordan River
there to go where milk
and honey did flow—how
you Almighty Father kept
your promises to fulfill thy
amazing Word—as many
times have heard. In Jesus
name, Amen.”
Please pray for rain and get
your umbrella ready because
rain is on its way.

Graduate, Do We Even
Need to Question?
Last Thursday, June 2, the
eighth grade class made their
way across the stage official-
ly becoming part of the high
school population in Texas.
Entering a packed room of
family and friends, the stu-
dents nervously felt the eyes of
all who were watching as they
•took their places on the stage.
Following the invocation by
Tyanna Barlow, and the pledg-
es led by Rayna Fletcher and
Zachary Parker, the salutato-
(rian, Kaycee Mitchell took the
podium with extreme nerves to
deliver her salutatorian speech.
Thanking God, parents, family
and teachers, Kaycee braved
her speech and received a full-
- house applause. Needing a

the class took time to give their
parents carnations as a thank
you gift, while the rest of the
family and friends viewed a
slide show to the songs “My
Wish” by Rascal Flatts and
’’Every Mile a Memory” by
Dierks Bentley.
After the appreciation mo-
ment, the students took their
seats to listen intently to their
Valedictorian, Mark Roberts,
as he gave them advice for
their next four years of high
school. They were to be happy
and enjoy their time growing
up, as well as work toward a
productive future. Mr. Rick
Perry recommended the grad-
uates for promotion to high
school, pending meeting all
attendance, grade, and testing
requirements before present-
ing unofficial diplomas to the
students. After the benediction
by Ashley Collins, students
took the advice from their re-
cessional song artist, and will
take life “One Step at a Time.”
