St. Lawrence fall festival to be
held on October 30 this year
For many years in the past, the St.
Lawrence Fall Festival has been held
on the first Sunday in November.
However, due to certain cercum-
stanccs, the date has been changed
this year to the last Sunday in Octo-
ber. The new date is October 30.
Dinner will be served from 11
a.m. until 2 p.m..consisting of home-
made German sausage, barbecue,
and all the trimmings, plus dessert of
homemade cakes and pics. Plates to
go will be served at the noon meal
only. Meal tickets will be $5.00 for
adults and $3.00 for children under
12. Sausage sandwiches, dessert and
Mrs. Perry attends Speech Association
Krin Perry, a career ladder teacher
in 5 A and 2 A school district in Texas,
was one of eight persons who se-
lected the Texas Speech Teacher of
the Year last week in Ft. Worth.
Perry attended the Texas Speech
Communication Association Oct. 5-
8; she is a member of the selection
committee fora 3-year term. She was
chairman of the Theatre Interest
Group of the Association 1985-87,
has led workshops for the Associa-
tion in El Paso and Corpus Christi,
and is slated for a program slot in
1989. Ms. Ann Shofncr of Amarillo
was named the Speech Teacher of the
Year.
Perry's students at Reagan County
High School accrued more than 50%
of all RCISD points in 1988 Spring
UIL District competition in aca-
demic subject. She recently led oral
interpretation and drama instruction
at the San Angelo Central High
School Speech Clinic, where she
shared leadership with Dr. Tyler
Tindall of Midland College, outgo-
ing president of TSCA.

tea will be served from 5 p.m. to 7
p.m. Uncooked sausage will be sold
by the pound.
Game booths will open at 12 noon
and close at 4 p.m. They will include
Spin-a-WhecI, Grab Bag, Balloons,
Coke Ring Toss and Sucker Tree.
Religious Booth and Kountry
Kitchen will feature hand-crafted
items and homemade baked goodies.
Candy and cokes will be available in
the concession booth.
The auction will begin at 2 p.m.
Auction items include bales of cotton
donated by members of the St. Law-
rence Community and other items
donated by various businesses.
A dance will be held from 7 p.m.
until 11 p.m. with "Spur of the
Moment," a country and western
band, providing the music. Dance
admission will be $5 per person.
The Women’s Committee in-
cludes Marilec Jost, Becky Batla,
Tibby Nichucs, Susan Hirt and
Donna Goodwin. The Parish Coun-
cil includes Lester Jansa, Sammy
Kcllcmcicr, Debbie Pcl/.cl, Zanc
Eoff, James Machicck, Garry Sci-
denberger, Bill Schraidcr, Johnn
Hillgcr, Carey Nichucs, Robert
Saldibar, Mark Frysak, Donna Eggc-
mcycr.and Billy Eggcmcycr. Pastor
of St. Lawrence Parish is Rev. Frank
Beasley.
St. Lawrence Parish Hall is lo-
cated 37 miles north of Big Lake on
Highway 33, and then 5 miles west
on Highway 2401.

First Assembly of God is hosting
the Community-wide Service of
Worship Sunday, October 23,7 p.m.
The event is held by the Big Lake
Ministerial Association. The Rev.
Hoyle Smith, pastor of Bethlehem
Baptist Church, and the pastor with
the greatest amount of service in the
community, will be the preacher.
Special music will be provided by
the Jory Waldon family of Odessa.
They arc guests of the host congrega-
tion for Oct. 23. Waldon has chaired
the Music Department of Southwest-
ern Assemblies of God College,
Waxahachic, Texas; and been Minis-
tcrof Music in Houston, Dallas, New
Orleans, and Sacramento. The
fmaily singers lead revivals, praise
and worship seminars, guide
children's festivals, and offer music
workshops with orchestra and choir.
The Waldons will direct a com-
munity choir, similar to the one
which has participated in Big Lake
annual Festivals of Faith, for the
Sunday night worship. Singers from
all the cooperating congregations arc
cordially invited to a brief rehearsal
at 6:15 p.m. Special solo and en-
semble music from the participating
churches arc also invited.
The offering will support the
Ministerial Association's ministries
of caring for needy families in Big
Lake and assistance with Meals on
Wheels. Everyone is cordially in-
vited to the Sunday evening event.
The host congregation will serve
refreshments.
