class, which will meet in
Room 108. Jana Cost-
low will teach the GED
courses, which will meet
in Room 110. The GED

class begins, Tues. Jan.

SC/MS girls win
two games Monday
Reagan County Mid-
dle School girls won two
games over McCamey
here Monday evening.
The 8th Grade Owls de-
feated McCamey 37-29,
and the 7th Grade Owls
won 16-14,
Cheryl Watson was
high scorer for the Owls
8th Grade girls with 11
points. Laura Schwert-
ner followed with 9
points and Sheila Sell-
man had 8, Marla Mor-
gettc hit 5 points, Patty
Mitchell 2, and Donna
Furr 2. McCamey's
Margarita Zuniga led all
scorers with 12 poionts.
In the 7th Grade
game, Leslie Gooch led
the Owls with 7 points.
Other Owl scorers were
Paulla Lavender with 3,
Jill Fisher 2, Michelle
Martin 2, and Francine
Smith 2.
RCMS 8th Grade girls
played in the Sonora
tournament last Thurs-
day and Friday. In their
first game on Thursday
they lost to Ozona 34-20.
Cheryl Watson led the
Owls with 12 points.
Mitchell, Schwertner,
Sellman, and Mor-
gette had 2 points each.
On Friday the Owls
played Sonora and lost
by one point 19-18. Lau-
ra Schwertner led the
Owls with 5 points, fol-
lowed by Watson 4,
Morgette 4, Sellman 3,
and Mitchell 2.
Girl Scout Junior Olympics
The Ozona Civic Cen-
ter was the site of fun
and games Saturday,
Jan. 10 for the Junior
,Qirl Scouts of District
IV. This is an annual
event for the girls and
was coordinated this
year by Charlotte Judd
of Ozona. Both Junior
troops of Big Lake were
represented as well as
troops from Ozona, Eden
and Sonora.
Approximately sixty
girls competed in the 18
different games held
Saturday, with each girl
competing in three
games.
Eden proved to be the
best of all the competi-
tors taking the over all
high point certificate.
Troop #34 of Big Lake
brought home the high
points for Big Lake.
Point-makers of Troop
#34 include:
Martha Garcia with a
1st and 3rd place.
Jennifer Worcester
1st, April Soliz, 1st, Cin-
dy Mitchell, 2nd, Step-
hanie Heifner 2nd, Sher-
ry Calhoun 2nd, and
Christina Stone 3rd.
Troop #15 of Big Lake
was also well represent-
ed with these winners.
Sharon Floyd with two
2nd places, Charlotte
Cole 2nd, Stacie Beam
2nd and 3rd, Slade
Harkleroad 2nd and
Teresa Smith with two
3rd places. 'All the girls
enjoyed the fun and
competition and next
year Big Lake plans to
bring home all the 1st
place awards,' said
adult troop leaders.

Twins celebrate 80th birthdays
Approximately 75
friends and relatives
from Texas, New Mexico
and Lousiana attended
the 80th birthday cele-
bration for twins Prule
Coulter Garrett and Paul
Coulter, held recently
at the Sherwood Com-
munity Center.
Hosts for the party
included Mrs. Garrett's
daughter, Mrs. D. N.
McWilliams of Odessa
and Coulter's daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. L. Craig Johnson of
Carrollton.
The fraternal twins
were born Dec. 30, 1900
in Mayfield, Ky., the
second set of twins bom
to James D. and Beatrice
Coulter. When the hon-
orees were eight years of
age, their family moved
to Ballinger where they
attended public shcools
and graduated in 1918.
Mrs. Garrett married
Prentiss Garrett in Den-
ton in 1923 while she
was a student at North
Texas State University.
She earned a degree
from Texas State Col-
lege for Women (now
Texas Woman's Univer-
sity) and taught school in
Winters, Menard, and
Amarillo, retiring from
Reagan County Indepen-
dent School District in
1970 after 41 years in the
teaching profession.
She is currently resid-
ing at Deering's West
Nursing Home, moving
to Odessa from Rio Con-
cho Manor in San An-
gelo.
Herbrother married
Lonnie Mims in 1933 in
a garden ceremony on
the bride's parent's
ranch in Water Valley.
He attended Angelo
Business College and
was employed by San
Angelo National Bank
for a number of years.
In 1941, he became a
rancher in Water Valley,
where he continues to be
active in the ranching in-
dustry.
Special guests attend-
ing the birthday celebra-
tion included Mrs. Gar-
rett's granddaughter,
Mrs. Mary Kee Heason
of Houma, La., and her
grandson, his wife, and
twin daughters, Mr. and
Mrs. David N. McWilli-
ams, Jr. and daughters
Amber Lee and Autumn
Kee of Ozona. Coulter's
grandson, Paul Coulter
Johnson also attended as
did the couple's three

community - Girl Scout
cookie Sale begins Jan-
uary 23 and extends for
two weeks.
This year, seven cook-
ie and cracker varieties
will be available. El
Camino Girl Scout mem-
bers will be taking ord-
ers door-to-door, at
fixed points around
town, and over the
phone at the council
