Woman’s Missionary Union of
the First Baptist Church met
Monday for missionary pro-
grams.

Ladies' Night was observed
by the Midkiff Lions Club
last Thursday evening when
the club celebrated its fourth
anniversary with a banquet
held in the recreational hall
at the El Paso Natural Gas
camp. There were 72 present
for the occasion.
Clyde Hyde of Midland,
master of ceremonies, intro-
duced the speaker, Roy A.
Minear of Midland, Lions In-
ternational Counselor, who
spoke on Llonlsm. He stated
that Llonlsm has proved a
means of community service
for almost 43 years.
Three pupils of the Flo
Darling School of Dance in
Big Lake furnished enter-
tainment for the occasion.
Shannon Darling gave a
reading and a tap dance, and
Mary Key McWilliams and
Nancy Burnett, each a tap
dance.
Guy White, president of the
Midkiff club, presided. E. L.
McElrath was song leader
and Jim Daniel served as
chairman of the entertain-
ment committee.
Guests were present from
Midland and Stanton.
The Midkiff 4-H Girls met
recently in the Leon Curtis
home. They made peach de-
light under the direction of
Mrs. Curtis. The girls in-
cluded Belinda Harris, Gale
Jenkins, Charlotte McCas-
land, Elaine Howard, Evla
Miles, Beverly Curtis, Wanda
Smith, Debbie Hayes and
Wilda Knight.

Lt. Dennis L. Starling, who
Is stationed at the Air Force
Radar Station at Ozona, was
guest speaker at the Home
Demonstration Club last Fri-
day afternoon when a pro-
gram on civil defense was ob-
served. Mrs. J. L. Scroggins
was hostess.
In his talk on civil defense,
Lt. Starling showed slides on
the construction of the Dew
Line which Is a radar defense
measure. The speaker was In-
troduced by Don Renault of
the local radio station.
Mrs. E. L. Funderburk, club
president, read a letter from
the Chamber of Commerce of
El Paso inviting all home
demonstration club women to
attend the district meeting
which will be held in El Paso
on April 6-7.
Plans were completed for
the all-day workshop on
making spring handbags
which will be held April 1 at
the Girl Scout house, from
10:00 a. m. until 4:00 p. m.
Mrs. Chester Davis will be
hostess. Women of the com
munity are Invited to bring a
sack lunch and spend the
day.

freshments to Lt. Starling,
Mr. Renault, Mrs. H. H.
Barnes and Mrs. O. L. Bear,
as visitors, and to Mesdames
