55+ CLUB
By Clouo Jayne KeLLy
55+ Club Members surprised Accolade Health Care Representative Lindsey Been and
her soon-to-be husband Kacey Presson with a special wedding gift. The couple are to
be married on Oct. 9.
State Agencies
Extend Drought
Photo Campaign
Austin - The “What
does your Texas drought
look like?” statewide
photo project has received
hundreds of compelling
photographs documenting
the devastation caused by
the ongoing drought. The
coalition of state agencies
— the Texas Department
of Agriculture (TDA),
Texas Water Develop-
ment Board (TWDB) and
Texas Parks and Wildlife
Department (TPWD)—
overseeing the project an-
nounced today that Tex-
ans have an extra month
to submit their photos.
Additionally, the coalition
is asking Texans to share
photos showing the other
side of the drought by
documenting innovative
water conservation meth-
ods and positive drought
responses. The new dead-
line to submit photos is
Thursday, Oct. 31.
Additionally, TDA,
TWDB and TPWD will
display some of the most
compelling photos in an
exhibit at the Texas Capi-
tol from Oct. 28 through
Nov. 1. Click here to get
a preview of some of the
outstanding photos pro-
vided by Texans from
across the state.

Wednesday, Sept. 25,
the 55+ Club met in the
Memorial Building for the
weekly lunch and game
day and also to bid a big
‘welcome’ to Fall 2013!
The days of summer are
now gone and we are
enjoying beautiful, cool
days of the upcoming fall
season.
Jony Thomas, Vice
President, conducted the
business session in the
absence of Colene But-
ler. She reported that
members contributed 125
volunteer hours for the
month of August; she had
not received the hours
for the month of Septem-
ber. Tournament day was
the third Wednesday; the
birthdays and anniversa-
ries were celebrated today
with ice cream and cake
from Accolade Home
Health Care. No anni-
versaries were noted and
only two ladies celebrated
birthdays; congratulations
went to Nadine Adams
and Doris Hobbs.
Speaking of Accolade
Home Health, 55+ sur-
prised Lindsey Been and
her ‘husband to be’ with a
card and money container,
tied with a beautiful neck
scarf made by Sue Alli-
son. Kacey Presson and
Lindsey are to be married
Oct. 9, and we wish them
the very best. Lindsey will
continue to come share
Accolade with us each
month; Kacey is a fireman
for the Pampa Fire De-
partment.
Everyone was still
re calling the events of the
past week end; all decided
it had been a huge success
and the weather could not
have been prettier. Some
seem to think the Museum
Barbecue was the best
meat ever! It was so good
with all the trimmings;
Daniel Brackeen gave a
great talk, class reunions
were well attended and
the Mexican Pile On meal
prior to the Homecom-
ing game was more than
‘well attended’; many got
to go to the art exhibit by
Mike Smith; a large arrow
was dedicated in honor
of Quanah Parker, and to
top the week end off, the
Panhandle Panthers won
the Homecoming game
against some great players
from Tulia, Texas.
We were sad at the
loss of our fellow 55+
Club member, Betty
Biggs, and sympathy was
sent to her family. Also
prayers are being said on
behalf of Larry Profitt as

he begins some treatments
in Amarillo for a serious
health condition. Reports
were given that Shir-

David of Wheeler and
ley Hale is having some
health issues, but seems to
be recovering from those;
also Ruth Nideffer is do-
ing well since her recent
move. The Bob Allisons
were showing some cute
pictures of a new great
grandbaby and Mozelle
Urbanczyk also shared
news of great-grands in
her family.
The game tables were
full, as members gathered
to play canasta, bridge,
rummy, ‘88’; and several
are busy putting together
a jig saw puzzle and it
seems everyone stops by,
at some point, to add a
piece or two. Don’t for-
get to share a smile or a
hug with someone; it will
make two people very
happy.
