GAS FOR JEFFERSON
It now rests with the people of
Jefferson to say if we shall have
gas for fuel and lights A letter
received by exMayor B F Sherrell
from J S Connelly president of
the Ardmore Gas Company Ard
more Okla states that they are
now in a position to put in a pipe-
line and distributing plant for Jefi
erson The gas would come from
the Caddo gas fields and pipe tap-
ped on the line to Marshall The
franchise for gas was granted to
this firm seme time back and they
are now ready to begin work in a
short time provided the citizens
are willing and ready to give
proper encouragement to this
move which would be of great
benefit to the city This company
are furnishing gas to Atlanta and
Queen City and give perfect satif
faction to the consumers Mr
Connelly expects to be here shorly
to close the matter of gas for Jeff-
erson and it is hoped that he will
find everyone ready to ccoperate
in this matter

are enjoying an era of greater pro9

credit on ihe people of this State

ending August 31st 1910 was 949

spirit of ccoperation among all
educational forces of Texas has
created an educational atmosphere
which has tended to give strength
and impetus to the movement for
better schools and for the highest
type of citizenship

I have had an interview with tbo
Chief of Engineers Gen V H Bixby
and be assures me that the protest
against the construction of the dam at
the foot of CaddoLake is considered
not sustained He states that there
will be no further delay in the matter of
the dam beyond such as may occur in
in carrying out the clause authorizing
the dam Considerable routine and
preliminary will ba necessary because
the law authorizes the dam to be so
constnotel as to admit of a look when
deemeJ necessary It may be that
several different plains will have to be
prepared and considered before actual
construction work begins The rivers
