The Herald News is rather
scarce with us just now Of course
Mr A and hunihJjwcrc pleasant
callers at Mr Bs Sunday and the
Misses C spent the day with the
Misses D but that is so common
we dont care much about it up
here
The little bug that has been
creating such a stir in the name of
the boll weevil has just about dis
appeared and we are glad to
know he was not the genuine
article
The candidate shake is the lat
est fad But the candidate isnt
such a bad fellow after all In-
deed he is a necessity then it is
well that he is pleasantand agree-
able Who cares for having his
hands squeezed till he dances a
reel when he is informed that the
squeezer thereof has been directed
to him tho victim as the most
influential man in tho community
Don asks some correspondent
who travels that mountain road to
explain but as yet no one has
lone so Now it is plain from
my geographical situation that I
dont travel that road en route to
Palestine but I know the road
nevertheless Tho road by round-
ing the head of a deep hollow
avoids two steep hills one either
way you go The new road is a
gradual ascentaround the brow of
the mountain to the top You
might without great injustice to
your team drive it in a brisk trot
with a buggy and it isnt neces
sary to put your brake on coming
down with a wagon
To make tho old road as
rmMz m

thirty or fortyfive deep an ini
possibility on account of sipe
springs on the brow of the mounf
tain to say nothing of thesand
hill on the other side of the ravine
Grecnic wants to know why they
built the new road after the com-
mittee had reported in favor of
the old route Wiry after five of
the seven members of his cabinet
had voted not to do so did Lin
