Avenue Methodist church was the
speaker of tho evening Following a
bible reading by Rev Mr Anderson
Rev Garrison took as a text tho
twentyninth verso of the nighth
chapter of Matthew What have we
to do with theo Jesus thou son of
God
In answering tho question of the
text the preacher built a strong logi-
cal sermon on tho dobt mankind owed
to God He said first this Jesus about
whom this question asked was mans
creator ho was mans redeemer he is
mans mediator and finally he is to be
mans Judge In each of these rela-
tions the speaker showed mans debt
and obligation and gratitude to his
God
Tho sermon had a telling effect on
the audience and a number went for-

White or colored kid slippers often
become shabby In appearance because
the kid has been peeled off the heels
If the slippers ure otherwise In good
condition the heels can be made to
look like uew by cutting from the top
of an old glove of the same color a-
piece of kid hirje enough to stretch
and paste about the heel The upper
edge can be securely pushed under the
sole of the shoe and neatly trimmed at
the bottom If not worn until perfect-
ly dry the result Is most satisfactory

Referring again to the fashionable
white lace veils perhaps some of you
may like to hare a few hints as to
how they may be cleaned at home
for the process Is by no menus dltllcult
says a writer In Iarls Fashions Put
a good sized piece of noap In a basin
of bulling water and make a thick
lather Have the lace rolled round a
bottle or glass plaque and put this
Into the suds Ict It soak for half an
hour ut least If very much soiled the
lace may be left In a great deal longer
Then put It Into a fresh hot lather and
afterward rinse it thoroughly In cold
water When the veil Is spotless spread
It out to dry on a clean cloth pulling
It gently Into shape When dry stiffen
It by dipping It Into a little gum water
half an ounce of gum arable to a
quart of wuter then press It while
sUIl damp having pulled It out nicely
each way to keep It In the right shape
