Tokio Juno 27 It is reported on
tho streets hero today that tho Japan-
ese have taken Hai Oheng after a des-
perate and bloody battle and that the
Russian army has been so badly beat-
en that it can not possibly take the
offensive until next spring at the ear-
liest The war office will neither con-
firm nor deny the report but admits
th t heavy fighting has been going on
about Hai Oheng It is believed by
army men here that Kuropatkin with
a considerable portion of his army has
beon completely hemmed in by Kuro
ki and Oku and news is confidently
expected of his capture before many
days have passed

Monday ho skipped leaving his board
billunpaid Ho was stopping at Mrs
Linsons boarding houso and had run
up aboard bill to tho amount of S10
Early yesterday morning tho man
guitar and baggage had disappeared
Mrs Linson appealed to some of her
boarders and thoy went out on a hunt
forTtho man They succeeded in find
inghlm and ho assured them ho would
cither get tho money or leavo his bag-
gage for the debt This he did not do
The boarders watched the trains but

ever a negro put the baggage on the
southbound train yesterday at noon
