all the bills tho cominittco had con-
tracted in buying tho furnishings and
labor incident to tbo work and ho was
also authorized to pay the other cur-
rent bills
Mr D 0 Malloy was present and
by invitation mado a statemont rela-
tive to tbo work of producing an opora
by homo talent as a Board of Trado
benefit Ho asked tho cooperation
of tbo board By resolution ho and
those assisting him wero thanked and
assurances wero givon of all the aid
tho board could give in tho enterprise
Tho president was authorized to ap-
point tbo various commlttoes to carry-
on tho work after a report was heard
from tbo commlttco on bylaws and
constitution which report was adopt-
ed
The secretary was authorized to
mako such arrangement for an assist
ant as he deemed best and to report
to the next meeting Tho secretary is
going to be a very bnsy man for the
next few months and ho will have to

Mr W W Walnwrlght was before
the board with a furniture factory
proposition and was promised the
moral aid of tbo board and it was
suggested that an effort should be
made to get up a stock company to
operate such a factory No doubt
such an enterprise proporly conducted
would pay handsomely
Tho soliciting committee reported
that it was still at work and making
splendid progress Thoy expect to
run tbo membership up to 200
Mr H R Deitz was present and was
invited to tell tbo board of tho to-
bacco plant on exhibition in the
rooms The gentleman made a very
flattering report on tho condition of
tho tobacco crop and the board was
much Impressed The plant Mr Deitz
oxhibited was a giant of only six
weoka growth It measured six feet
and ten inches in length and tho larg-
est leaves wero 23x1212 inches This
plant was grown undor canvaps and
from Cuban seed of tho Sumatra wrap
per tobacco Mr Deitz says ho had sold
tho crop at 45 cents a pound and that
tbo tobacco would produce about 1000
pounds to tho aero IIo said govern-
ment exports had examlnod his crop
and reported it equal in appearances
to any they had over scon grown in
Cuba and expressed tbo opinion that
it would prove very flno In quality
Mr Deitz also stated that it was grown
with just about as much easo as a crop
of corn could bo grown

alj meetings of tho Board and of tho
Executive Commltteo ho shall draw
alldrafts on tho Treasurer for money
authorized to bo exponded by the Ex-
ecutive Oommitteo and ho shall per-
form all othor duties which may from
tiieo to time bo directed or proscribed
by tho Executive Oommitteo
4th Tho VicePresident shall per-
form all tbo dntlos or tho President in
th absonco or inability or tho Presi-
dent to act
sth Tbo Secretary shall correctly
keep a record of all proceedings of
meetings of tho Board and of tho Ex-
ecutive Committee ho shall collect all
monies duo to tho Board and pay over
same to tho Treasurer taking his

Treasurer ho shall countersign all
drafts drawn by tho President on tbo
Treasurer and koep a correct state

shall elect an Executive Committee

shall consist of eloven members At
this meeting they shall do and perform
any and all other acts necessary in
carrying ont tho purposes of the
Board and a majority of those present

election or tho Executive Committee
each momber shall have one voto for
evory dollar paid monthly to the
Board
8 Tho Executivo Committee shall
at their first mooting each year eloct
from their number a President Vice
President and a Treasurer They shall
also havo tho power to select a Secre-
tary and fix his compensation They
shall have tho powor to do and per
form all things necossary in carrying
out tho purposes of tbo Board Thoy
may meet at such times as thoy may
designate but shall bold at least one
meeting a month
9 These bylaws may be amondod
by a majority vote of those present at
any annual meeting of tho Board or
at any mooting callod for that purpose
after ten days notico of time and place
of said mooting
10 Tho membership fee of this
Board of Trado shall bo Five dollars
per year
