special meeting in session here today
the stockholders or the Southern
RailwayCompany are expected to au
thorize the Issue of J2000000000 fifty
year 4 per cent bonds The issue of
the bonds Is part of the general
scheme for developing and strength-
ening the lines or the system
Of the total amount 15000000 is
to be issued immediately for the fol-
lowing purposes i JG2774 to reiund
payments for equipments heretofore
made and charged to capital 3G00
000 to refund Investments in securi-
ties of an advance to subordinate
companies heretofore made and for
the acquisition of property not here-
tofore funded and G53G22G far
double track revision of grade new
yards shops etc
The remainder of the 185000000
will be reserved for the following pur-
poses 31158000 to retire divisional
prior lean bonds on properties ac-
quired for which no provision is made
in the consolidated mortgage 1C
000000 to retire not later than April
1 1909 collateral trust fives 18008
000 to retire as they mature In the
next fifteen years equipment capital
obligations 10000000 to acquire
capital stocks of certain leased lints
10000000 to pay riot later than July
1 1908 for the eastern division of the
Tennessee Central and immediate Im
Improvements
After provisions for the foregoing
obligations are made there will be
left 99834000 which will be used
for future acquisitions and better-
ments
To obtain the bonds a new general
mortgage is to be created which will
be made to the Standard Trust Com-
pany of New York and secured by a
prior Hen upon additional property ac-
quired since the creation of the first
consolidated mortgage in 1894 and
on properties covered by existing di-
visional prior lien mortgages which
the new bonds are to refund

not the railroad commission will hear
its motion to reduce passenger fares

the original motion to apply it to the

when Parrott drew a pistol shot his

through his own head dying almost
