Another Good Meeting of the Board
of Trade Held Last Night In-
terest Is Good
The executive committee of the
Board of Trade held another live
meeting last night with a very flat-
tering attendance of the members
President Silliman was in the chair
and after roll call and approval of
minutes of last meeting called for re-
ports of committees Mr John R
M
Hearne of the finance committee re-
ported that his committee expected to
get busy next week and work up the
membership The park committee
reported no special work done but
the sentiment was good for a park
The trade committee reported a move-
ment on foot to bring trade here this
fall and winter and promised a full
report next Thursday evening The
roads committee is also gathering
data and will make some recommen-
dations pretty soon The special com-
mittee to investigate tax matters was
granted further time to secure infor
mation before making a report
The matter of entertaining the East
Texas Press Association to meet
here on Friday and Saturday the
24th and 25th was brought up by
President Silliman and at his sugges-
tion H V Hamilton of the Herald told
of the meeting what the association
was doing and made some sugges-
tions as to the kind of reception that
would meet with the approval of the
newspaper men After a general dis-
cussion a motion prevailed to turn
the entire matter of entertainment
over to Chairman Pearlstone and the
entertainment committee The Board
extended a cordial Invitation to the
Press Association to come here on the
above dates and it goes without say-
ing that the newspaper men will be
well treated while here
Following a very pleasant session
the Board adjourned
