At the Texas Methodist Conference
which convened at Marlin, Rev. H. G.
Collins, of La Grange, was assigned to
fill the pulpit of the Methodist church
here for the ensueing year, and will
deliver his first sermon on next Sun-
day at 11 a. m. He is reputed to be
one of the most eloquent and earnest
ministers in this Conference and the
people of Rockdale are to be congratu-
lated in securing him.
It is earnestly requested that not
only the members of this curch, but all
who will, attend the morning services
next Sunday and extend to him a wel-
come royal. --------
The retiring pastor, Rev. Fred L. Al-
len, who for the past three years has
so ably filled the pulpit, has been as-
signed the pastorate at Alice, Texrs,
and he and hi8 estimable family will
move there shortly.
