this mornin
where a high
I official in the __
Department of
Agric ulture A*
I says price supports and production
i controls are bad because they may
bring on unemployment among
non-farmers and cause “terrific
repercussions in our entire eco-
nomy.”
lie went on to say “actually the
number of people who earn all or
part of their dally living through
transporting, processing, packag-
ing and merchandising of products
of our farms exceeds those actually
engaged in agriculture itself. An
over-all reduction in farm output
can have terrific repercussions in
our entire economy.’’
As 1 understand this, he is ask-
ing farmers -to produce all they
can, regardless of how big the
surplus is or how much they lose
at it, so the truck drivers for ex-
ample can have something to haul.
Now while i nevei had given
much thought to my responsibility
to go up one row and down an-
other out here on my Johnson
tribute to the surplus of agricul- grass farm so the truck drivers
could have somethin to do, 1 can
see this agricultural expert has a
point.
