Radar Warnings—
A new traffic sign will soon make
its appearance on state highways.
It’s the warning, "speed limits
radar enforced.”
Texas Department of Public Saf-
ety Director Homer Garrison Jr.,
said the new caution boards will be

way stretches covered by ra-
dar-equipped patrol cars.
'Operation Radar’ 'is planned to
begin in mid-November on the
main highways.
Weis* Resigns—
Attorney General John Ben
Shepperd has announced the res-
ignation of Edwin E. Weiss, his
executive assistant.
A native of Hubbard, Weiss re-
signed his position to enter pri-
vate business. He has served as
Shepperd's assistant since May.
Bid Investigation—
Identical bids on electrical
-quipment received by the Austin
City Council will be looked into by
Attorney General John Ben Shep-
perd.
However, the investigation will
not reach the congressional level
as Council-woman Emma Long ad-
\ocated.
Shepperd said that he is now
gathering information from cities
oxer the state that have experi-
enced noncompetitive bidding. The
Austin bids, from four different
firms, will be included, he said.
Mrs. Long attempted to get the
council to back a request for a
congressional investigation, but
was outvoted.
