Mason and Arredondo To
Share Hurling Duties
Mason to Start First
Game ot Double Bill
On Sunday
Gus Mason, just back from a
hitch in Uncle Sam’s Army in
Hawaii and Japan, will take the
mound here Sunday afternoon in
the first game of a double header
between the Cuero Turkey Trotters
and the Nubes Blancos nine of
Nuevo Laredo with Arredondo, for-
mer Yoakum Indian who has also
just joined the club, slated to go
in the second tilt.
“Lefty" Burton will stand by in
a relief role if either hurler weak-
ens.
An added attraction during the
afternoon will be the appearance
of a Mexican accordion trio.
Mason, who had hurled lots of
ball for the Trotters prior to enter-
ing the service, has been in action
with a service team during his
stay in the army.
He declares he is in top shape
and ready to go in the opener
Sunday.
Arredondo, who was beaten last
week by the Trotters, showed a
world of stuff in losing, and struck
out nine Cuero batters.
The reliability ' of Lefty Burton
needs no comment.
The first game is scheduled to
get underway at 2 o’clock with a
15 minute intermission planned be-
tween the two tdts.
