November 11, the country took
the day to honor those that have
served, or are currently serving
in the military.
Vets were honored with pro-
grams at schools and a meal at
the Veterans of Foreign War in
Jacksboro Sunday.
On Thursday and Friday, Jacks-
boro Independent School District
presented a program to honor
veterans. There was even a “sil-
houette presentation” which was
te prei
quite impressive. Students in
fourth and fifth presented
l with the high school cho:

ligh school choir, members, and led the Pledge of

Perrin Whitt CISD presented
their program Friday. The colors
were posted by former members
of the military, including one
who will celebrate his 90th birth-
day this month.
Former veteran, Donald Cran-
ceremony by marching to the
song “March of the We Ameri-
can.”
The first grade gave a memo-
rable performance as they sang
“Lights of Freedom” and lit
small tea lights as they sang.
Dressed in costume that repre-
sented different periods of time
in our country’s history, the third
grade sang “This is America.”
Also every year, the Veterans
of Foreign War #8914 on Oak-
wood Street in Jacksboro honor
the vets with a holiday feast and
camaraderie on Veterans Day.
Tears were shed during these
prog
aide, and tears from memories
f those who have been lost
One thing was obvious;
different programs. Tears from
pride, ;
of those who have been lost.
One thing was obvious; even
though the week proved to be
challenging for the nation to
decide who would lead for the
next four years, and even though
the campaigns 1
there is still a tremendous sense
brought division,
of pride and deep appreciation
toward the men and women who
serve our country.
On that, we all agree. On that

Bryson Cowgirls get big “send off’
The Bryson Cowgirls were cheered on as they left Thursday for their Regional Final game in Snyder against the Water Valley
Wildcats. They enjoyed all the students lining the roads with signs and cheers and the fire truck led them through town. The
Wildcats defeated the Cowgirls and ended their run for state, but what an honor to advance so far. (Photo by Sandi Argo)
