Joe Devers Of
Scotland Dies
Funeral services for Joe J.
Devers, 83, of Scotland were
conducted Monday morning at
St. Boniface Catholic Church in
Scotland with Rev. Edward Dev-
ers, a nephew of the deceased,
of the Blessed Sacrament Church
in Dallas, officiated and was
assisted by Rev. Cletus Post of
Windthorst. Rosary' was said
Sunday night in the chapel of
Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Devers died Friday in
the Archer County Hospital af-
ter a brief illness.
He was born Feb. 28, 1884,1
in Clay County and had been
a resident of Archer County for
the past 40 years, where he
worked on area ranches. He was
a member of the Catholic!
Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs.
Lizzie Birkenfeld of Abilene, J
a brother, Bernard J. Devers ofj
Wichita Falls.; two nephews,
Henry Devers of Wichita Falls
and William Granner, Henrietta;]
two nieces, Mrs. May Durchup:
and Mrs. Lillian Lerner, both
of Henrietta.
Pallbearers were great neph-|
ews Edward Luig, Paul Schenk,
Jr., Frankie Schenk, Cletus]
Schenk, Roy Lee Schenk and
Leonard Schenk.
Interment was in the St. Boni-
face Cemetery under the direc

Local Scouts To
Participate In
Scout-O-Rama
Archer City Cub Scouts, led
by packmaster Paul Hoptc<u« and
Boy Scout Troop 101 with scout-
masters, Gene Crutcher and
Charles McDaniel, wlil partici-
pate in the annual Scout O-Rama
to be held May 5-6 in the 4-H
Club Barn in Wichita Falls.
Hours for the event will be
from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The Cub Scout Pack 100 will
have as their theme, “Homemade
Games and Crafts,” with the
five dens working together to
set up the display of crafts and
games that the audience may;
take part in playing.
Some 35 members of the Boyi
Scout troop will have an outdoor.
display of Dutch Oven Cooking]
with scouts on hand to answer
questions about the activity.
Scout officials will award each;
boy who sells ten or more tick
ets to the Scout-O-Rama. an of-;
ficial Scout-O-Rama patch.
The exhibits at the meet will
be scored by the judges and
ribbons wil be awarded after
closing time on Saturday. Of-
ficials of the local troops re-
mind the public that the purpose
of the Scout-O-Rama is to at-
tract attention to scouting and
its importance to young people;
to motivate and stimulate the
public to support scouting finan-
cially, and to interest the public
in skills and aims or scouting.
Local scout leaders expressed
gratitude for the cooperation
and help of parents in comple-
tion of a successful year’s work
of scouting.

Funeral Saturday
At Holliday
Michael Robert Fischer, 11,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Fischer, rural Holliday, died
Thursday morning in a Wichita
Falls hospital following a short
illness.
Funeral services were conduct-
ed Saturday afternoon in the
Bible Baptist Church in Wichita
Falls with Rev. T. H. Masters,
officiating.
Michael was born Jan. 23,
1956, in Oklahoma City and was
a fifth grader at Holliday School.
He was a member of the Bible
Baptist Church.
Survivors include the parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fischer and
a grandmother, Mrs. J. B. Sand-
ers, Wichita Falls.
Pallbearers were Larry Davis,
Charlie Wigley, Jerry Dobbs,
Joe Fox, C. L. Lucas and Son-
ny Lavender.
Interment was in the Holliday
Cemetery under the direction of
Hampton Vaughn Funeral Home,
