Mr. and Mrs. May visited
in the home of her sister, the
G. H. Fowlers, last Sunday.

Lynda McAnally was in a car
wreck in Boise, Idaho, this
last week and was able to re-
turn to the Olney hospital for
treatment of her injuries.
Miss Cynthia Ann Colgan
became the bride of Gary Al-
len Coon, last Saturday night
at 8:00 p m. in the First Bap-
tist Church here in Megargel.
They plan to make their home
in Lubock where they will
both atend Texas Tech. She
Is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Howard Colgan.
Mrs. Bertha Young suffer-
ed a stroke this past Thursday
and has not been doing very
well.
E. R. Richards suffered a
heart attack last Tuesday and
seems to be doing as well as
can be expected. He Is not
yet able to have visitors.
Visiting in the home of the
Mack Selphs this past week
were a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ber-
tha Selph of Burkburnett; her
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Har-
old Ward of Eliasville; Mr.
and Mrs. Larry Clark and fam-
ily of Olney; and the Cletus
Alexander family of Archer
City.
Visiting in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Lee Payne last week
was his son. Payne entered
the hospital last Sunday eve-
ning for surgery on Monday
morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Cheryl Doty
and family of Cleburn visited
in the home of her parents,

The Megargel Chapter of
the FFA met Sept. 4. They
elected a district officer nom-
inee who was Tilden Smith,
president of the chapter.
They also elected voting dele-
gates for the district officers
who were Joe Gentry and
Barry Bishop. Scotty Echols
was elected as alternate. At
the meeting the group de-
cided to sell a ham and tur-
key to raise money for their
chapter. Tickets will be on
sale sometime in October.
The drawing wil be held on
Oct. 30.
A surprise birthday party
was given in honor of Mrs. C.
O. Snodgrass in the home of
Mrs. Bessie Dobbs Sept. 4.

Hubert Curry and Sylvia of
Crosbyton, and Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Curry of Pampa. A

Mr. and Mrs. Don Curry of
Fort Worth, and the other
Hubert Curry daughter and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gene
Fowler of Richardson, were

daughter and next door neigh-

a reunion in her hometown
of Gilliland where some of
those in attendance had not
see one another for 50 years.
The reunion, held every two
years, always provides much
visiting, food and good music.

weekend house guests In the
home of their grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Patrick,

ly got by with the statement.
Mmes. Tomie Estill and
Grace Graham of this city
spent the first of this week
in Mrs. Graham’s hometown
of Hobart, Okla., visiting and
attending business.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wilson of
this city are vacationing in
Denver, Colo., from where the
latest mesage was a brief
“Send long handles at once".
First thought is that the
weather might be pretty cool
—with a close after thought
that the luck might not be so
hot, either.
Mrs. Carlton Deen returned
to her home, 210 W. Chestnut,
from Fort Hood where she
has resided the past two
years with her husband, Spec.
5 Deen, who will join Sue
here Sept. 26 when he re-
ceives his separation from
the US. Army. Deen com-
pletes a two-year stretch in
the Ground Surveillance Ra-
dar Corps. He and Col. Stork
are scheduled to arrive almost
neck-and-neck. He plans to re-
turn to duties with his fath-
er, Obie Deen, owner of Deen
Drilling Co.
B. B. “Boss” Berryman, 621
W. Main, was brought home
Thursday of last week from
the Olney hospital, convales-
cing nicely from recent ill-
ness.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Davis of
Pampa spent a few days last
week with her mother, Mrs.
W. E. Strahan, 220 W. Mes-
quite. A weekend guest of
Mrs. Strahan was Miss Margie
McGehee, former resident here
and now of Bryson. Margie
commutes to Graham where
she is employed in the new
bank.
According to a notation for
change of address, Mrs. M. H.
Vardeman has been promoted
from San Mateo, N.M. School
to San Rafael School in New
Mexico.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dickey and
family of Loving, N.M., were
weekenders in Archer City
aud visitors with Ed’s mother
and step-father, B. L. (Boots)
Brewer who has been hospital-
ized in Wichita Falls since
Aug. 27. Boots’ condition is
vet considered serious, accord-
ing to information, though he
has been returned to the Ar-
cher County Hospital.
Clarence Deskin accompan-
ied Milton Lemon and the lat-
ter’s mother, Mrs. Rena Lem-
on, all of the Antelope sec-
tor, to the county seat Thurs-
day of last week at which
time Deskin, a long time read-
er of The News, renewed his
subscription.
