Cubmobile Race
On August 18th 21 Cub Scouts
and Webelo Scouts were entered
in the Cubmobile Race, using; 14
Cubmobile ‘cars’. An enthusias-
tic group of parents, families
and friends watched as each boy
mounted the ramp to gej set in
his car with helmet on and" safety
belt securely fastened. Building
and operating specifications used
for the race ruled out danger of
contestants being hurt. This
program is to create companion-
ship between fathers and their
sons as they both share interest
and the thrill of accomplishment
in building their own car and
racing it. It was interesting to
hote that there was only 4.6
seconds time difference between
the longest-time run, 20.8, and
the shortest time, 16.2 seconds.
A vote of thanks is extended by
all to Time Judge Billy Burnes
who operated the stop-watch and
to Gerhardt Schulle who served
as Flagman at the bottom of the
hill.
The top five winners were: 1,
Cub Scout Mike Foster; 2, Webelo
Scout Robbie Adams; 3, Webelo
Scout Mike Kalka; 4, Cub Scout
Jamey Hansen; 5, Webelo Scout
Jerry Graves (The first 3 place
winners all shared the same car).
Other Cub and Webelo Scouts
in the race who won slow-poke
suckers were: Leroy Adams, M(ke
D’Spain, Bodie Browning, Carlos
Reyna, Jesse Reyna, Kenny D’-
Spain, Roy Dale Graves, Donny
Bradford, Jeff Moseley, Arkey
Juenke, Jimmy Goodenough,
Abel Herrera, Gary Schmidtke,
Howard James, Jordan Johnston,
Russell Hahn.
This race is just one of the
many fun activities which Cub
Scouts enjoy. In September we
will be having a drive for new
members. Parents of any. boys
pges 8 or 9 who are interested
may contact Cubmaster Cecil
Graves for information, or one
of the Den Mojthers — Annie
Adams, Judy Goodenough, Helen
Hansen or Joyce Haas. Parents
of boys age 10 should contact
our Webelo louder, Ellis Brown-
ing.
