tonio College, Pi Gamma Phi Stu-
dent Council Representative, and
Incarnate Word College, Phi Sig-
ma Kappa, Texas Society of Medi-
cal Technologists. She is present

Mr. Adams is the son of Mr.

CLUB MEETS WITH THE
HEIMSATHS
Next week on Monday night,
June 25, at 8 p.m., the Medina
River Reading Club will meet in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. George
Vaught and Mrs. Velma Elliott
will give Breckett’s “Waiting for
Gddot.”
Interest is growing in the Club
as evidenced by the fine crowd of
about thirty-two people who at-
tended the meeting this week in
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Heipsath on Monday night. Dr.
Heimsath reviewed Euripide’s
“Medea” which was greatly en-
joyed.
Delicious fruit punch was serv-
ed the guests.

The Madrona Garden Club’s
Tenth Annual Flower Show was
held last Saturday in the educa-
tion building of the Bandera
Methodist Church. The beautiful
show was well arranged and at-
tended by a large crowd of people.
The flowers were fresh and lovely
and the arrangement division as
well as the horticulture division
was most outstanding.
Winners in the various divi-
sions and classes were as follows:
Horticulture—Mrs. C. A. Duke,
12 blue, 2 red and three yellow
ribbons; Mrs. J. Burgin Davenport,
6 blue ribbons; Mrs. Pat R. Free-
man, 5 blue ribbons and 3 red rib-
bons; Mrs. I. T. Cleveland, 4 blue,
2 red ;Mrs. J. W. Edwards, 4 blue,
2 red, and .4 yellow ribbons; Mrs.
G. M. Merritt, 4 blue and 2 yellow
ribbons; Mrs. L. C. Mathis, 3 blue
ribbons; Mrs. Fritz Saur, 3 blue,
5 red and 1 yellow ribbon; Mrs.
Edwin Vawter, 1 blue, 1 red; Mrs.

In the mens division R. E. Hart
placed first with 9 blue ribbons and
3 red ribbons; Fritz Saur receiv-
ed 1 red ribbon; C. A. Duke, 1
yellow ribbon; D. R. Rippey won
1 white ribbon and Ray F. Wyatt
won second place.
In the Arrangement Division the

According to County Agent
Werener Lindig the Bandera Coun-
ty 4-H Judging Team won the
National Wool Judging Contest on
Thursday, June 14, at Sonora with
a score of 1527. Jamie Sue Nixon
was the high point individual with
a score of 524. Howard Hicks was
the third high individual with a
score of 504. John Focke tied for
fourth high individual with 499.
Frank Craddock scored 497. The
team members were Jamie Sue
Nixon, Howard Hicks, John Focke,
and Frank Craddock. Frank was
only two points behind John.
The second place team was the
San Saba County 4-H Team with
a score of 1489. Sutton County
was third with a score of 1472.

Over-All in Sonora Contest

HAS RECORD
ATTENDANCE
The Texas Reunion of the Re-
organized Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints was held at
Camp Sionita about six miles
from Bandera on Highway 16 from
June 9 through 17, 1962.
About four hundred people reg-
istered at this reunion, and it was
a golden opportunity to enjoy rich
fellowship, helpful spiritual ex-
periences, and enjoyable recrea-
tion with others of like faith and
interest.
In keeping with the General
Church recommendations for all
Reunions this summer, they used
the theme: “Seek Ye The Lord.”
Members of the General Church
personnel were: Apostle D. 0.
Chesworth, Evangelist Z. Z. Ren-
froe, Bishop T. A. Beck, Seventy
V. J. Billings and Seventy C. R.
RODEO TO BE HELD

MINUTES OF THE
COMMISSIONERS'
COURT FOR JUNE
The junior 4-H Judging Team Mundorff-
won the over-all high team in
judging in the Sonora contest.
The team members were Preston
Faris, Kathy Lindig, Marilyn
Faris and Shirley Welch. In this
contest the team has to judge
wool, mohair, sheep, Angora goats,
grasses, and range plots.
Chris Berger of Sonora was the
first overall high individual with
a score of 1271. Kathy Lindig was
the second over-all high individual
with a score of 1263 and Preston
Faris was third high with a score
of 1240.
In the different divfflons the
team placed first in mohair, third
in range, third in wool, and tied
for fourth in livestock. Individual
awards in each of the contests
went to Preston Faris who was
second high in range. Kathy Lin-
dig was first high individual in
wool, third high in livestock, and
second high in mohair.
Senior Team Wins Second
Over-All High at Sonora Contest
The Bandera County 4-H Judg-
ing Team also placed second high
in the Sonora Contest with a score
of 3959. Sutton County won the
contest with a score of 3966, only
7 points ahead of Bandera.
John Focke was first over-all
high individual in the contest with
a score of 1383. John was also
high individual in livestock judg-
ing.
The team members were John
Focke, Jamie Sue Nixon, Frank
Craddock, and Howard Hicks.
In the different divisions the
team placed first in livestock, sec-
ond in mohair and second in wool,
and third in range judging.
Prayer meetings, class work and
preaching services were enjoyed
each day. Those assigned to
teach the classes were: D. 0.
Chesworth, the General Class;
Mrs. Carl F. Wheeler, Jr., Mrs.
Bula Bobbitt, Mrs. Emerson, Mrs.
Katherine Wilder, and Mrs. Helen
Billings, the Women’s Class; Z.
Z. Renfroe, the Men’s Class; V.
Class; C. R. Mundorff, the Junior
High Class; Helen Billings, Amelia
High Class, Helen Billings, Amelia
Miller and Bobbie Pyeatt, the
Children’s Classes.
The choir under the direction of
Miss Emma Jackson, of San An-
tonio, presented some very beau-
tiful music which helped to make
the Reunion a success.
Last Sunday afternoon it was
time to say goodbye and wish
each family a safe return to
their homes, and for each person
to look forward to the Reunion
to be given next year.
Sponsored by the Medina Fu-
ture Farmers of America Chapter,
another Saturday night rodeo will
take place in the arena at the
Medina Children’s Home June 30,
1962, at 8 p.m.
The trail riders will leave the
Texaco Station in Medina at 4
p.m., and ride to the Home in
time for the big event.
Local events include steer rid-
ing, ribbon race, saddle relay,
greased pig, calf scramble; and
open events will be calf roping,
pole bending, cigar race, barrell
race, and break-a-way.
Admission to the rodeo is 50c
and $1.00.
Miss Marilyn Gallant is reign-
ing as Rodeo Queen, having been
elected to this glamorous position.
Her escort will be Jeff Anderson.
Duchesses are Mary Neasham,
who will be escorted by Othro
Mansfield; Linda Baudoin, who
will be escorted by Robert White-
head; Ann Jackson, whose escort
will be Johnny Malloy; Carol Hub-
ble whose escort will be Larry
Fee; Paula Adams will be escorted
by Mike Allen; and Ann Craddock
will be escorted by Steve Baudoin.
BYom 6 p.m., to 8 p.m., a de-
licious barbecue supper will be
served by the Medina Rotary
Club at 75c a plate.
The public is cordially invited
to attend the rodeo and barbecue.
MRS. LUTHER COLLIER
DIED THURSDAY
Funeral arrangements have been
made for Saturday at the Plum
mer Funeral Homes at 2 p.m., with
burial in Medina Cemetery, for
Mrs. Luther Collier, age 47, of
San Antonio, who died Thursday
morning. This sad news comes in
as we go to press and we will give
a complete obituary next week.
TEXAS GAME AND FISH
COMMISSION PUBLIC
HEARING
The Texas Game and Fish Com
mission will hold a public hearing
on regulatory matters in the Hill
Country counties in the latter
part of June. Their meeting Is
scheduled to be held here on June
25, at 8 p.m., in the Court House
and those interested in the wild
life and fisheries conditions in
this area are urged to attend.
Biologists will be present at each
meeting and those in attendance
will have an opportunity to be
heard. The results of these hear-
ings will be discussed at the mid-
summer Commission meeting to
be held in Austin, at which time
many seasons and regulations will
be determined.
The Bandera County Commis-
sioners Court met in regular ses-
sion on June 11 with all members
of the Court present.
Mr. Phil Bradshaw appeared
before the Court and presented a
plat of the Medina River Encamp-
ment Sub-division Unit No. 1, and
requested that same be approved
for filing. After examining such
plat, the Court, by unanimous
vote, approved such plat for fil-
ing in the map and plat records.
It being called to the atten-
tion of the Court that there was
a leak in the Court House roof,
Commissioner Schmidt moved that
the County Judge be authorized
to have same repaired, which mo-
tion was duly seconded and unani-
mously carried.
The monthly report of the Tax
Collector was approved.
The regular claims and bills
against the county were audited
and ordered paid.
The Court adjourned from June
11 until June 16 at which time the
Court authorized the issuance of
$16,090.00 Road and Bridge War-
rants to be used for fencing and
other expenses for right of way
on State approved highways.
Sitting as a Board of Equaliza-
tion the Court heard complaints
and reviewed assessment changes
ordered by the Court or made by
the Tax Assessor-Collector.
The County Judge was directed
and authorized to advertise for
constructing right-of-way fences
and for cedar posts to be furnish-
ed for fencing.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe G. Baker have
moved to Bandera to make their
home and Mr. Baker and Charlie
Fellows have opened the Bandera
Motor Service in the garage build-
ing next door to Langford’s Hard-
ware.
Mr. Baker is an experienced
mechanic and machinist having
been in the business for the past
38 years. Mr. and Mrs. Baker
owned a machine shop and garage
and a trailer court in Plainview
for twelve years. In 1960 they
moved to Medina Lake where they
have resided since.

having spent most of his life in
