All America and the rest of the
world for that matter has been de-
touring away from PROSPERITY
IiOrLKVAKI).
We've been groping down dark and
uncharted lanes . . . Over-Production
vest rather than to gain by the hys-
teria of Speculation.
We've come to realize that Over-Production
often meant hurried produc-
tion . . . the slighting of quality to
produce volume ... to hide cheapness
under the veil of Low Price.
Cheap Money Heedless Speculation
and ifcisy Credit . . . these are the IilIt we've changed our tempo to pro
si reels we have been traversing in
our riotous rambliugs that led us to
a blind alley of Depression.
The great trouble was an excess of
Cheap Money making it easy for ev-
eryone to run into debt. A wild slock
market was another consequence and
Over-Production another.
ISul great forces are now at work gen-
erating tjhis return lo Prosperity.
We're getting used to doing without
Cheap Money . . . we're adjusting our-
selves to rely on our resources both
in what we buy and in what we in
duce quality rather than volume and
that in itself means more substantial
value to tjie consumer and fortunate-
ly the readjustment is attended by
lower cost on better grade commrdi-
ties. For the past few months merchants
have been selling more than they
have been buying and the country
has been consuming more than manu-
facturers have been producing. A
situation of this sort leads inevitnbly
to better business with the ensuing
result of more satisfactory conditions
for wage-earners as well as retailers
and manufacturers.
