Area Deaths
Eleanor
Ordener
A funeral mass was held
Tuesday for Eleanor (Nora)
Ordener of Scotland in St.
Boniface Catholic Church in
Scotland. The church
pastor, Rev. Bartholomew
Landwermeyer officiated
and burial was in the St.
Boniface Cemetery in Scot-
land.
Pallbearers were Henry
Wolf. Richard Meurer, Bud
Smith. Ed Luig, Otto Hemmi
and F. J. Luig.
Miss Ordener died Saturday
at her home in Scotland.
She was born April 22, 1900
in Archer County and was a
farmer and rancher and a
member of the St. Boniface
Catholic Church.
Survivors include a sister,
Cecilia Ordener and several
nieces and nephews.
Charles
Vogtsberger
Funeral services for Charles
A. Vogtsberger, 90, were
held Monday in St. Paul
Lutheran Church in Wichita
Falls with church pastor.
Rev. Todd Dm loft officia-
ting.
Burial was in Crestview
Memorial Park under the
direction of Hampton-
Vaughn Funeral Home.
Vogtsberger died Saturday
in a Wichita Falls Hospital.
He was born July 8. 1889 in
Archer County and was a
retired farmer. He was a
member of the St. Paul
Lutheran Church, and made
his home in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include a son.
Richard Vogtsberger of FM
1954; a sister-in-law, Mrs.
Harry Vogtsberger and a
brother. Robert Vogtsberger
both of Wichita Falls and
three grandchildren.
Scott Recuperating
In Hospital
Archer City’s own Hal
Scott, is recuperating in the
Archer County Hospital,
from a broken hip he
suffered in a fall Thursday.
Scott was walking in front of
the Archer City Clinic and
fell as he stepped down from
the curb. A nurse, Doris
Geis, was going off duty
from the Archer Hospital,
nearby, and saw him sitting
Youth Sports
Show Day Set
A county-wide Youth in
Sports Days Talent Show has
been set for Monday, June
30, as one of the kick-off
events for the Centennial
celebration.
Glenda Rux, chairman for
the latent event has asked
everyone to "put on the old
tap shoes, string up the
banjo and guitar and come
along for the fun which
begins at 3 p.m. on the last
day of June.”
Mrs. Rux stated that the
show would be separated
into two divisions, 1. for
grades kindergarten through
four and 2. grade 5 through
12. First, second and third
place awards will be given in
each division, for all types of
talent, athletic or musical.
The deadline for entries is
June 15, and entrants may
call Mrs. Rux at 574-4468 in
Archer City; Mrs. Frances
Pennartz at 541-2503 in
Scotland or Mrs. Linda
Willis at Holliday, 586-1738.
The Talent Show will be
held in the Archer City
School Cafeteria.

and guide for a geological
society, is the surviving son
of pioneers James and Annie
Scott who came to Archer
County in 1887, from
Illinois.
Amity Club Holdsf
Final Meeting
Mrs. R. C. Kinder was
hostess for a salad luncheon
in her home on Friday for
the final meeting of the club
year. Mrs. Bob Russell was
oo-hostess.
During the business
session, the club named
Mrs. C. L. Abercrombie, as
the Amity Club nominee for
First Lady of the Archer
County Centennial.
Mrs. Russell, in a costume
of the 1880's, gave a review
of the pageant, “Trail of
Golden Memories”, that will
be presented in the rodeo
arena, June 30-July 5. Mrs.
Russell is overall director for
the pageant.
The club elected officers for
the coming year, and named
Mrs. B. M. Atchley as
president. Other officers are
Mrs. Fred McDaniel, vice-
president. Mrs. Dink Hull,
secretary and Mrs. A. J.
DeMoss, treasurer.

Gage, James Harvey, Dink

Some 200 persons were
present over the weekend
for the Red River Renegades
Annual Tom Sexton Me-
orial Shoot at the musket
loaders range near Electra.
About 100 marksmen
participated and top honors
were won by Howard Payne
of Lawton.
The shoot is named in
memory of the late Tom
Sexton, a charter member of
the Renegades and one of
the state's outstanding black
powder gun buffs.
Archer County Centennial
was represented at the shoot
by Margie Berend, of the
Centennial Belles and Fran
Russell representing the
historical pageant, Trail of
Golden Memories, to be
staged June 30-July 5 in
Archer City, and Bob
Russell president of the
Archer Centennial Corp.
The guests were introduced
by Renegade President Reb
Neal.
Centennial Softball Tourney
The Centennial Softball
Tourney, sponsored by the
Brothers of the Brush, will
begin at 5:30 Friday in the
Baseball field near Burkett
Park.
Some five or more teams
are entered and play will
resume at n< jn on Saturday.
The conct >sion stand will
be open Friday evening and
Saturday during game time.
