Letters To The Editor
March 6, 1986
Editor, Wylie News:
Between Paul Wilson Road
and Eubanks Lane, just
North of the Wylie city
limits, there is a white rock
road which is passable in dry
weather. It is a convenient
way to get to Highway 78
from Parker Road if you want
to bypass Wylie and don't
mind a few bumps here and
there.
v This road seems to be a col-
lection spot for illegal trash
dumping. Part of. the enter-
tainment value of tkisTead is
to see what new additions
have been made since your
last trip. All things con-
sidered, this is not a scenic
route.
"Why is this,” 1 wondered.
After referring to my
MAPSCO, I think the pro-
blem could be in the name of
the road. The makers of the
Wylie Chamber of Commerce
map graciously left the name
off of their map, and for a
very good reason - no city
would want it in their limits.
The name of this road is
"Dog Drop Lane,” a disgrace
to any community. Not only
does it encourage people to
drop off dogs there, but it
seems to bring out the trash-
dumping side of people. Both
of these activities are illegal
and bear penalties if you are
caught. If you are not caught,
the road just gets trashier
and trashier,
Look at it like this, if so-
meone had named you “Dog
Drop" wouldn't YOU tend to
be a bit trashy? That would
be worse than naming a boy
"Sue.” I would like to see Col-
lin County rename this road
something more on the
positive side, like
"Cleanliness Lane" (Lovers
Lane would also be ap-
propriate). Even a number
would be better than Dog
Drop.
