REVIVAL
Rev.'Lenzy Evans
Rev. Lenzy Evans of Mis-
sissippi will conduct a revival
meeting in the Van Alstyne
Church of God beginning on
Wednesday June 17th and
continuing as long as thought
desirable.
Mrs. Evans, a singer1, of note
will be singing throughout the
revival.
The public are invited.

A reception followed the
marriage ceremony in Fellow-
ship Hall of the church. The
bride’s table was laid with
net over blue with a blue and
white floral arrangement,
white candles, and a three-
tiered wedding cake, topped
with a bride and groom.
Miss Linda Pool registered
the guests. Others members
of the house party included
Miss Nina Carter, Miss Donna
King, Mrs. L. S. Thompson,
Mrs. Ray Henderson, Mrs.
Carl Thompson and Mrs. J.
W. Hamilton.
Mrs. Randall is a graduate
of Howe High School and is
now a sophomore student at
East Texas State College. Mr.
Randall is a graduate of Sher-
man High School and is now a
Junior Commercial Art Major
at East Texas State College.
Following a wedding trip to
the Gulf Coast, the couple
will be at home at Route 1,
Howe, until fall when they

BASEBALL
LITTLE LEAGUERS WIN
Van Alstyne: — Howe de-
feated Van Alstyne 7-3 in a
Grayson-Fannin Boys League
game here Saturday night.
Tommy Robertson was the
winning pitcher giving up but
two hits and striking out 10.
The losing pitcher was James
Langford who gave up five
hits. Tommy Patterson got
two hits for Howe and Billie
Miller and Hershel Perez got
a hit each for Van Alstyne.
BASEBALL
There will be a meeting
June 19th, 8:00 p.m. at the
new school building to discuss
the organization of a Howe
Independent Baseball Club.
Any interested player please
attend.

Guests in the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Overton Jay are
their daughters and families;
Capt. and Mrs. E. H. Martin
and sons Ernie, Jay and Ed-
ward, of Rollo, Missouri and
Sp. 4 and Mrs. Carl Englutt
of Fort Benning, Columbus,
Georgia. Mr. Englutt will re-
turn to his base and will be
on maneuvers for the sum-
mer. Mrs Englutt will remain
in Howe with her parents.

Thompson have returned to
their home in Iowa Park after
attending the wedding of Mr.
Thompson’s niece, Miss Alice
Thompson and Mr. Steve
WEDDING BELLS
Miss Alice Ann Thompson,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Chas. R. Thompson, became
the bride of Mr. Steve Randall
son of Mr. and Mrs .V. C.
Randall on June 14th, at 3:00
p.m. in the First Baptist
Church before an altar dec-
orated with ferns, candles and
white floral arrangements.
Rev. Bill Thompson, brother
of the bride, performed the
double ring ceremony and
Rev. Claude Cone, pastor of
the church asssted him. Mrs.
Frances Long played tradi-
tional wedding music on the
organ and accompanied Mr.
Tommy Thompson, cousin of
the bride, who sang “Hawaiian,
Wedding Song” and “Whither
Thou Goest.”
The bride was given in mar-
riage by her father. Her gown
was fashioned of bridal satin
With appliqued flowers of em-
broidery, a molded bodice, a
scoop neckline and long poin-
ted sleeves with a floor length
skirt. Her finger-tip veil of
illusion was trimmed with
tear drop pearls and fell frora
a pearl-trimmed whit° satin
halo. The bride’s only jewelry
was a single strand of pearls
—a gift of the groom. She
carried a white Bible topped
With a white carnation bou-
oiiet with satin ribbons tied
in French knots.
Miss Sue Thompson, sister
of thei bride, was maid of hon-
or. She wore a pale blue dac-
ron dress of schiffli embroid-
ery, a blue circlet headpiece
and carried a blue carnation
boquet. Bridesmaids were
Mrs. Pete Nicholas, sister of
the groom and Mrs. B'll
Thompson, the bride’s sister-
in-law. They wore matching
pale blue dacron dresses blue
circlet headpieces and carried
white carnation bouquets.
Mr. Jerry Biggerstaff, cou-
sin of the groom, was best
man. Groomsmen were Mr.
Mike Jones and Mr. Max Kirk.
Mr. Richard Biggerstaff and
Mr. Robert Biggerstaff, cou-
sins of the groom, were
usher.
The mother of the bride
wore a shell pink shantung
sheath, topped with a match-
ng lace duster and white ac-
cessories. The mother of the
groom wore a pastel blue lin-

Miss Janet Holsenbeck of
Waco was a guest of Mr. and
Mrs. C. R. Thompson and at-
tended the wedding of Alice
Ann Thompson, Sunday. Miss
Holsenbeck and Miss Thomp-
son were room-mates at Bay-
lon University last year.

Miss Mary Ann King
ENGAGED
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. King
of Howe announced the en-
gagement of ther daughter,
Miss Mary Ann King to Tra-
vis Wayne Arterbury at a
luncheon given Saturday at
Trade Winds Restaurant.
Mr. Arterburry is the son,
of Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Arter-
burry.
Mrs. Paul E. Yarborough
Jr. of Arlington, sister of the
bride-elect, was hostess fort
the luncheon.
The table was centered with
an arrangement of flowers
and a bride and groom.
Miss King is a graduate of
East Texas State College
where she was a member of
the Alpha Thi Sorority.
Mr. Arterbury is attending
East Texas State where he
is a member of the varsity
basketball team.
The wedding is scheduled
for August 8th in the First
Methodist Church here.

CHRISTIAN CHURCH
The Christian Church is
having a picnic at Miss
Minnie Brooks’ new tank at
noon on June 21. Everyone is
urged to bring a basket lunch,
chairs and come.

7:30 every Wednesday night
at the Christian Church.

Mr. and Mrs Terry Skeen
were in Arlington Sunday
where Mrs. Skeen’s brother is
a patient in Arlington Memor-
ial Hospital.
DONALD W.TH0RN
Sgt. Donald W. Thorn left
recently for a tour of duty of
18 months in North Africa.
Mrs. Thorn and their four
boys; Donald Jr., David, Den-
nis and Daniel are remaining
in Howe living in the 500
block of North Neal Street.
They operate the The Thorn
Kwik Chek Food Store.
Sgt. Thorn enlisted in the
Army Air Corps in November
of 1942 and received his
wings and commission as a
fighter plot in February 1944
and was attached to the 479t.h
lighter Squadron in England
where he flew 60 missions
over Germany being shot
down once.
He was in several Europ-
ean countries during the war.
He returned to the States
after the war and married
Miss Theresa Ann Spence. He
got out of the service, but
was recalled to the Air Force
during the Korean War hi
1951. Since that time he and
his family have been station-
ed in various parts of the
United States and were in
Newfoundland for three years
Sgt. Thorn has also been in,
Alaska for a year where he
was an Aircraft Comptroller.
He holds the Presidential
Citation and mariy battle,
stars on his ribbons and has
been awarded many outstand-
ing certificates and trophies
for his work in the service.
Sgt. Thom is now stationed
at Wheeler Air Force Base,
North Africa and his position
is dispatching aircraft in and
out of the base.
METHODIST
CHURCH NEWS
The First Methodist Church
of Howe is having the annuel
Vacation Church School be-
ginning Monday, June 22nd
through June 26th from 3:00
to 5:00 p.m. each afternoon.
rrhe ages included are 3 to
15 years of gge. The thdmfc
for the week will be “The
Bible in Our Time.” All chil-
dren and young people are
welcome.
Mr. and Mrs. Ector Sollis of
Cornell, Texas visited Miss
Birdie Sollis over the week
end.
