Discrimination -
A joint meeting of the circles of
the Woman's Society of Christian
Service was held Tuesday after-
noon, April' 22. for the continuance
of a series of studies on "Prevail-
ing Practice In Race Relations."
Mrs. Tlllle Sipes had charge, of
the devotional, which was followed
by three Interesting discussions
relative to the program subject.
Mrs. O. D. Edigar discussed "Race
Discrimination and Economic Se-
•curlty"; Mrs. B. J. Vickers pre-
sented "Emergent on a New Negro
Leadership"; and Mrs. Otto Sch-
roeder gave "The Battle on Race
Discrimination In American Indus-
try."
The program was closed by pray-

tertalned Friday afternoon, April
25. In the home of Mrs. E. E. De
Vilbiss of Taft,
Beautiful spring flowers from
Mrs, De Vilbiss’ own flower garden
were used in charming arrange-
ments throughout the various rooms
for decoration.
Mrs. W. D. Pilkington was . in
charge of the day's program, and
presented a condensed article from
the Reader's Digest entitled "Amer-
ica's Forgotten Children,” which
was followed by a roundtable dis-
cussion. - v.
During the meeting plans were
completed for the final meeting
which will be held in the form of a
luncheon in Corpus Christi. May 10.
Installation'of officers will be made
at that time-.
Refreshments consisting of a
green salad plate,- 'cookies, -and
frosted punch was. served by the
hostess to the following members:

Miss Marian Sherrer, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Fred A. Sherrer of
Kermit, became the bride of Albert
K. Schaudies, son of Mr. and Mrs.
A. C. Schaudies of this city, in a
double ring ceremony solemnized
Saturday morning, April 26, at 9
o'clock at the Sinton Methodist
Church, with the Rev. Theo L. Cox
officiating.
Flower baskets of white gladioli,
lilies, and daises, banked by fern,
decorated the altar.

Truly” were sung by Miss Earlyne
Hardy, soloist. She was accom-
panied by Mrs. T. J. Higgins, org-
anist, who also played Lohengrin’s
"Wedding March” for the bridal
procession.

J. * W. Liggett, Jr., and Miss
Grace Arnot of Alice were united in
marriage at the local Methodist
parsonage April 19, with the
groom* a father, Rev. J. W. Liggett,
pastor of the-Methodist Church of-

The groom is well known in
Odem. The couple will make their
home in Alice.

Both -circles of the Woman’s Mls-
scionary Union met Tuesday morn-
ing for an all day social meeting at ]
