- Ijonmlatiout’s congratulations go
to the Sim.m Hiuh School Pirate
baseball ton yi—who overcame a
three-way . deadlock and * won . t h e
District 39-A baseball champion-
ship by defeating: Taft Utah School
•'•Saturday and Fleer High School
Tuesday.
The Pirates gained entrance to the
last gu around in the district play
by edging Taft J-i and then win-
ning the pennant for 'sure by
trouncing Freer, 14-7. i
The Pirates had a slow start
this season and have also bad some
bn«| set backs—ligeh as players
quitting school and others becoming
ineligible ’by not piutslng their
grades. All of thetys factors have
given Pirate coach Olin Chafin
' quite a bit of worries but Somehow
the team was able to hold together
to take the district throne. Round-
about congratulates you, Coach
Chafin and your team- ' '
Pirates Win District Here Tu
With' the winning of file district
flag in' baseball the (Pirates have
made quite a. showing in the field-
'of ,Sports this year. To- start the
activities • off the Pirate eleven
placed third in football after giving
every team In the conference, a
scare Then tile Pirate basketballers
-.copped first place, and now first in
baseball..
Two first places and a third isn't
bad for any school.
It can he easily said—now at the
nd of the school year—that the
llrates and their coaching staff
(lave not let the fans of Sinton
Tdown .this year.
Note: Roth t coaches, Murry
Stephenson and Olin Chafin, were
re-elected at tile election of faculty
members recently. Too bad we
couldn't re-elect some of the parti-
cipants of the various sports-
senior members of the teams—for
another year. 3 r . 1

Thursday for their regular monthly
meeting in Si.nton. In addition to
the regular business the > following
cooperative agreginents were* ap-
proved: I. A. Waters, G. C., Conn,
The Board' of Supervisors strong-
ly urge that flax residue be con-
served and properly taken care ,of.
They point out thitt too often this
straw is raked up and burned be-
cause the farmer says that it is
impossslble to handle it. The main
trouble lies in inadequate straw
spreaders on the combines which
do ’ not* properly so^itter 'the straw,
It is* pointed out that where the
straw is. piled lip every effort
should be rhade to spread it out and
'leave it on or near the surface to
protect the soil from heat, lower
evaporation and add plant food to
the soil. This str^w is actually'more
valuable than, fertilizers that come
in sacks,
Cary ' Eads of (Idem says that
the recent hard rains thoroughly
cmivinted him that* terraces should
lie large' and waterways well vegot -

due to tin* high Intensity of—.the

move off hirough tangles of traffic into the
open countryside without even thinking about
clutch-pedals and gearshifting or the like.
He’s free to have fun — free to drink in

answer his every bidding.
