Chapter No. 515 of the Order
Ot the Eastern Star entertained
their deputy-grand matron, Mrs.
Mary Elizabeth Wolf of Alice,
Tuesday evening at the Masonic
Hall.
The hall was beautifully decora-
ted with autumn leaves and flow-
ers.
Mrs. Fanny Warren, Worthy
Matron, presided over a short
business meeting afterwhich a
Thanksgiving program was pre-
sented by Mrs. Daisy Martin and
Mrs. Ava Smith wjth the assembly
taking part.
This was Mrs. Wolf’s official
visit to the chapter.
Out-of-town guests attending
were: Mrs. Ella Martin, Mrs.
Maude Moore and Mrs. Alice
Nunnally of Alice and Mr. and
Mrs. A. D. Aikin of Woodsboro.
Hostesses for the social hour
were Mrs. Edith Schmalstcig and
Mrs. Helen Hill.

W.S.C.S. mOt at the church Tues-
day afternoon with Mrs. S. J.
Vickers as leader of the program
on Spiritual Stewardship. Mrs.
Wm. Bentz gave a part on “The
Christian is a Steward.”
Mrs. I. G. Rhine told about,
“The Urgency of Stewardship. The
meeting closed with a prayer led
by Mrs. Vickers.
Those present were: Mesdamcs
Jesse Sipes, S. J. Vickers, Wm.
Bentz, Hattie Craven, W. W. What-
ley, Drew Moss, J. J. Mason, I. G.
Rhine, and Dan Martin.
' The next meeting will be a joint-
meeting of both circles in a busi-
ness and social at 9:15 a m. Tues-
day, Dec. 4 at the home of Mrs.
Dan Martin with Mrs. R. N. Frank-
lin as co-hostess.
Mrs. Fred Johnson returned
home Friday noon from Dallas
where she visited for a month with
her son-in-law and daughter, Mr.
and Mrs. Ewing Might.
Miss Florence Syma became the
bride of Fritz J. Herzog, Friday
night at 8 p.m. in the Sacred
Heart Church.
Rev. A. H. Schmitt, pastor, of-
ficiated at the ceremony.
Large baskets of white gladoli
were used to decorate the nuptial
space.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. John H. Syma of
Odem and the groom is the son
of Mr. and Mrs. R. G. Herzog of
Skidmore.
The bride given in marriage by
her father was attired in a toast
brown suit with brown accessories
and carried a nosegay of pink
sweetheart roses atop a prayer
book.
Mrs. Leon Smith of Sandia, sis-
ter of the bride, was the only at-
tendant. She wore a light green
suit with black accessories and
carried a colonial bouquet of
mums.
Allen Doubrava, nephew of the
groom, was best man.
Immediately following the cere-
mony a reception was held at the
home of the bride’s parents in
Odem.
The bride’s table was decorated
with white gladiolii and centered
with a three tiered wedding cake
topped with a miniature bride
and groom.
After their wedding trip the
couple w'ill be at home in Skid-
more where Mr. Herzog is em-
ployed by the Humble Pipe Line
Company. Mrs. Herzog will remain
employed at the City Office.
C. T. Moody Honored
With Birthday Party
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Moody honor-
ed their son, C. T„ with a birthday
party at their home Tuesday
afternoon.
The group enjoyed playing In-
door and outdoor gamei before
the honoree opened his lovely
gifts.
Following the gift opening re-
freshments of cup cake and ice’
cream were served to the follow-
ing: Bobby and Connie Land, Bill
Bosworth, Johnny Hollan, Paul
Gerdes, Jerry Don Barrier, Mary
Ellen Nicholson, Jackoline Owers,
Dianne and Susanne McKimmey,
Jerry Manasek, Larry Everett,
j'immy Tracy, Scharlot Gardes,
Mary Louise Ternus, Janice Hanus,
Loretta Moody and the honoree.
Mothers assisting with the host-
ess duties were: Mesdames J. H.
Owers, Claude Bosworth, J. D.
Hollan, Jr, D. J. Graham, Dilly
Gerdes, D. E. Nicholson, Neal
Land and McKimmey.

Mrs. Ted Vickers was compli-
mented Monday night with a pink
and blue shower at the home of
Mrs. Roy Moody with Mrs. D. E.
Nicholson, Mrs. J. W. Eakin and
Mrs. Tom Nary, eo-hoateaaea.
A stork surrounded by pink and
due carnations and white daisies
tormed the centerpiece for the
table.
Following the opening of the
honoree’s gifts, kolaches and
coffee were served to those pres-
ent. Individual plate favors of
miniature storks were also pre-
sented to the guests.
Attending the shower were Mes-
dames P. E. Featherling, Neal
Land, Howard Featherling, R. R.
Thurmond and Dilly Gerdes.
David Sanders of the University
of Houston spent the holidays here
with his mother, Mrs. Lillian
Sanders.
Mrs. A. J. House of Yoakum was
guest speaker giving an interesting
account of her European Tour.
Mrs. House was introduced by
Mrs. J. D. Hollan Sr.;

Mission Study Book
The Sunbeams met at the Bap-
tist Church Monday, November 26
for the final part of their mission
study book, “Dickie in Mexico."
