ANSWERS TO CUSTOMERS’ QUERIES
EYE SHADOW CREASING
Q. How can 1 prevent my eye shadow :
from forming lines in the creases of my
eyelids?
’ A. Thete arc 3 steps you can take to
prevent your eye shadow from creasing:
a Make sure your eyelids are free of
oil when you apply the shadow : ,
a Use a brush-on type of eye shadow ,
rather than a cake type.
• Set the shadow by dusting it ovet
lightly with a light tone of face powder. ,

rector, Vardley oj London.
IS COLOGNE ANTISEPTIC?
Q. Do min s colognes contain any
antiseptic ingredients?
A. Men t cologne* do not incorporate
antiseptic ingredients. They do, however,
contain sufficient alcohol to hjve anti-
septic properties.—Marianne Moore,
■ sales training director, Elisabeth Arden. -
WHEN HAIR ENDS SPLIT
Q. What can 1 do with my hair when
it begins.to split at the ends?
A. Nothing can be done to repair ends
that have already split. The best solution
is to cut them off.
The ends of your hair are more porous
than the roots and can be damaged by the
chemical action of incorrectly applied
permanent waves or hair coloring prod-
ucts.
If you think your hair may have been
damaged by a permanent, try applying a
creme ^jii(jilioncr to the ends before you
give yoursetf another permanent. This
will reduce their porosity and thus pro-
tect them from chemical attack
A strong detergent shampoo tends to
dry out hair and make ends more porous.
Switching to a nnid. conditioning sham-
poo. therefore, will also make your hair
less susceptible to chemical altack.—

search, DuSharme Products, Inc,_
NAIL POLISH THAT STAINS MAKEUP FoR 0ILY SKIN
When I remove my nail polish, a
yellow tint is left behind. How can I
avoid this yellowing?
A. One in every 3.000 persons has a
component in her nails which reacts with
' the pigment in nail polish to form a
yellow or brownish substance. When the
polish is removed, the pigment leaves a
slight stain behind.
There is no known way to avoid this
yellowing, but it is not a matter for con-
cern In fact, the more oil the nails con-
tain—md therefore, the healthier they
i are—the more pigment they will absorb.
—Sybil Mason, consumer service direc-
tor oj Culei
MASQLE TREATMENTS'
\\ hat does a masauc do for the
skin r
A. A masque treatment stimulates
circulation in the “kin thereby helping
to carry away the impurities that cause
oily or blemished skin—Bonn*' Bell.
i), 1 have a very oily complexion.
What kind of foundation would be best
lor me?
A. A medicated foundation that fights
blemishes would be your best choice.
If you prefer a nonmedicated founda-
tion. read the label on the package care-
fully. ^ ou would naturally not want to
use a foundation that is formulated to
fight dryness or lubricate dry skin.
Whatever foundation you use. you can
minimize any oil "shine-through” by
using a freshener under the foundation
and powder over it —Suomi Manners,
director oj training, Beil on.
